Technil::al Help for Practitioner & Master Practitioner Study Sets:
This CORaM or DVD-ROM is designed to work on an IBM compatible PC, and
will work with some quality degradation on a MAC. Our software automatically
recognises and overcomes most - but not all - of the different configurations that
exist on these machines. This technical sheet is provided to help you diagnose
and fix the problems we are aware of. If you uncover a problem that is not
addressed in this list please contact us at support@ceannard.com.
1. Start-up SollUltions
Nothing happens when you insert the CD ROM or DVD-ROM in your drive or a
blank browser window appears.
Check that the machine you are using conforms to the specifications
given at the bottom of this technical help sheet.
Make sure that Internet Explorer is your preferred browser
Check that your PC is set-up to auto-run CDROMS. If not you can start
the experience by looking at the files on the disk and executing index.htm.
Temporarily turn off any firewall software (such as ZoneAlarm). Make
sum you are not connected to the internet before turning off your firewall and that
you turn your firewall back on before re-connecting to the internet.
Ensure that Internet Explorer security options have been configured to
enable Active scripting.
Make sure that your machine is clear of viruses; we know of at least one
virus that could cause problems that affect this and other programs.
Make sure that you are not trying to run a DVD ROM in a CD ROM drive.
If it's a DVD-ROM make sure that your drive can accept DVD-R format.
Give it a little time; on occasions it can take a few seconds for the auto-
run software to execute.
2. Operational problems
Once you have the CD ROM running there are a number of issues we have
seen, particularly on older machines. To view our advice on these you should
click on the help button that is close to the bottom of the left hand navigation
column.
If all that happens when you insert the CD Rom is a blank or blue coloured
browser window then it is likely that your pop-up blocker software is stopping the
CD Rom from running properly. To fix this you can either:
A l t E ~ r your pop-up blocker settings to allow pop-ups to run from the CD Rom drive
and re-load the CD Rom or

Close the Browser window then look at the files that exist on the CD Rom
and execute the file called main.htm
If The CD fails to autostart:
By navigating to index.htm or main.htm should could get a page to show
but no hyperlink to operate.
The fault is in the Browser settings.
If you go to "Tools" then select 'Internet Options' and then the "Advanced"
tab there is a setting called: "Allow active content to run from CDs"
And one called
"Allow active content to run from files on my PC"
should both be checked (ticked).
3. Technical specification
This product is optimised for users who have an IBM compatible PC running
Internet Explorer v5.0 or later and Windows Media Player 7 or later.
It will operate with Windows Media Player 6.4 but expect short delays in
audio/video synchronisation.
It will operate on a MAC with Operating system 9 or OSX. You will find that there
is reduced AudioNideo and Slide quality on the MAC.
MAC users will generally have to install Windows Media Player (included on the
disk in folder wmp) and ensure that the file helper settings are set such that:
Internet Explorer relates to . htm
Windows Media Player relates to .asf and.asx
AOL users: Along with other providers we have experienced difficulties with
some AOL set-ups. The common advice is to re-install a clean Microsoft original
version of Internet Explorer, making this your default browser.
A screen resolution of 1024 x 768 will also be useful, to enable you to see the
materials as intended.
