Jessica Colbert Sonnet Corona Vampire Corona I: Fangs Sharp piercing fangs, the kiss that kills.

At first erotic, dangerous, and made of fire. They pierce the moonlight of my skin. Your thirst, like hunger, never stops. I hope you tire. The tips, they rake across and down my neck, so softly singing praises to the night. My body, at your every call and beck, is surely, truly, in for quite a fright. You smile; your lips stretched tight, your tongue so wet. Your breath is at my ear, so patiently. You, now my master. I, your eager pet. True, only you, your bite can set me free. My dear, this moment in the balance hangs. I tremble as the blood drips from your fangs. II: Blood You tremble as my blood drips from your fangs, like rubies darker than the sun. So red, the blood, it stains your lips. My heart, it bangs like loud alarm bells, waking me from bed. What used to course quick through your veins now crawls and coats your throat and suffocates your breath. Your heart beats emptily in hallowed halls. I think youll drain me, take me to my death. But when youve finished with my body, dont forget to wipe your chin and throw away the rag, like menstrual blood. (I know you wont.) Ill kneel, then, at your altar, and Ill pray. My blood will save you, this I know. So drink: my weakness, love, shall pull you from the brink.

III: Immortality Im weak, my love. Please keep me from the brink

Jessica Colbert Sonnet Corona of death. I grow so cold. I am afraid my life will leave without the faintest blink of time, of breath. Give me your blood, the blade to seal the letter of my life. I wait to see the sun no more, to solely crave the blood, to never sleep again, to hate the holy, taste the blasphemous, the grave eternal shelter of my long-gone soul. But will you ever tire, grow weary, love, of all that I can offer you, a hole which never empties? This I hope to prove: that even if you wont be coming back, my love for you wont die or fade to black. IV: Darkness My love, for you Ill die and fade to black. The velvet smooth caress of stars. The deep slow penetration of the light. Attack the sun and ravish good, afraid to keep the darkness that exists within us all. You burn. I burn. We burn together true in fires cold and full of light. We fall through time, so blissfully blind. Ignore the blue and greet the black, so full of pleasures rich with ecstasy sublime and lands of rest. Serenity is in our grasp. Bewitch yourself, abandon smaller treasures. Blessed are we who make love to the night. Forget the day. Embrace my dancing silhouette.

V: Bats By day, embrace my dancing silhouette. By night, youll lose me. Did you know Ill change? I promise, dear, Im not your average pet. Ill bite your hands. My wings are thick with mange.

Jessica Colbert Sonnet Corona Like this, I am unable to describe in human terms why I wont spare your life. Dont gambleI wont listen to one bribe. Dont struggleI dont want to cause you strife. Misunderstood by all who see my form. Im haunted by what could have been had I not let you bite me, drain the human norm from out my neck. But still, please dont ask why. I must do this in one quick painless burst. Sharp piercing fangs, my kiss will kill you first.
