MY NUTRITION PROFILE
I believe the main function of nutrient is providing the proper element for the body .Eating the right foods is just as importation to eating, for instead if a person continue to consume process foods and high sugary, and high sodium diet, the body will slowing deteriorate. These people are subject to disease such as diabetic, cardio vascular disease; hypertension, stroke and cancer just to name a few. The food sources I was deficiencies in were vitamin E and fiber and water. I began to add more olive oil to my diet by using it to cook with, I also started to eat more oatmeal and fruits for fiber and I take a water bottle every time I have to drive somewhere, which helps me consume more water.

PERFECT PLAN ANALYSIS
After reviewing my first 3 day food dairy it shows that my sodium intake is a great deal over the recommend amount. For instead my sodium, level should be around 1500 mg a day, but Im actually double that in one day. There are some need be changing in my diet. I often use different seasoning when cooking like season salt, garlic salt and both of these can lead to high blood pressure which will cause more serious health problem later on in life. Therefore, I believe me slowly but surely start to change my eating habit this change will be a lasting effect and a great one at that. One of my deficiencies intakes was fiber. And as I have learned throughout this class fiber and my intestinal track is the main way for my body to defend itself against elements that fight again a good immune system. For example, 70-80 percent of the body immune system is in the gut and fiber help clean out the toxins keep one from over eating. To help increase my fiber I started to make an effort to eat a bowl of oatmeal in the morning and started to choose my fruits and veggies instead of chips and other high in sodium snacks. I realize over time your body start to desire the right kinds of fruit and your feel more energize after the diet change. A reality TV program start was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. His name is Chad from a VH1 show, but he stated that his faith in God along with the chemo and diet change a lot of the problem area is shrinking. I think seeing Chad share his story was very touching, because Chad is a pretty young guy in his early 40s. Its never too early or too late to make better decision in ones life and Chad proof that to me.

FARM TO TABLE
There are many great super foods a person can choose from that maybe loaded with lots of vitamin and minerals, which is good for the human body. However, I chose to pick a super food with lots of character. The super food I chose was a vital tool in helping many families and soldier survive during time of war and famine. The sweet potatoes is grown during the warmer to hot temperature of the season, although the soil of the ground is prepare before that time, it is important for the farmers to make sure the ground is not to wet or to dry because when the sweet potato root and vines are growing if it does not have the balance soils texture that means a failed harvest to the growers. Sweet potatoes are known for being a tropical vegetable, that helps explain why North Carolina is the number one growing area for this vegetable, because of the high humility and heat the conditions cause the sweet potatoes to grow in high quality. Frost is an enemy to North Carolina farmer when cultivating crops is involved but there are other virus and disease that attack the roots of sweet potato which is the livelihood for these plants. Nematode is a parasite that feeds off of fungi and bacteria. Nematode are found in the soil, but it will attack the sweet potatoes if bacteria and fungi disease set in the plant like feathery mottle and cork for example, a very common disease but will destroy a farmer crop if spread through his or her land. Nematodes is only a result from some of these diseases that will ruin farmer crops if they do not correct the problem by isolations of the infected areas for instead foot rot, scurf, souring can occur, but all have a common affected the vegetable begins to rot and spread to others. Sweet potatoes have to go through a curing process, during this time the vegetable is actually store a very high room for about seven days total with temperature reaching the high ninety degree. If storage process is done correctly a grower can store 12 months worth of sweet potatoes without the vegetable rotting, but high temperature is the key to the curing without such a lot of money will be lost for the farmer. The great thing about sweet potatoes 70 percent of the product goes straight to the market and only 30 percent is used for can goods and etc. Sweet potatoes fries are becoming more popular. Now when a consumer visits restaurants they will have options for sweet potatoes fries with more vitamin then the regular white potatoes. Sweet potatoes are good for people with diabetic because it low in calories and it takes a longer time for the sugar to break down and it does not spike one blood sugar level.

I think both site are very helpful. However, I like my plate because its more visual friendly. And I believe it makes it easier for everyday people to understand what they need to add to their diet. For instead, If a person is low in vitamins or minerals, water, the chart would either show fruits, grains, protein or vegetable. I believe with this being so simple a person is more likely to correct much needed dieting. Although, the DRI go into more detail for food diet, I think it would be more helpful for people who are more advance in the health journey, but I think it could confuse a beginner. For example, the DRI that would show a percent for vitamin A or fiber with could be high or low, but depending on the background some people would not understand.

WATER

WATER
Water covers majority of the earth, it is the key element for life. Rather on land or in the ocean or flowing rivers, everybody and everything needs it. Herds of zebras, lions travel a far to find it. Even the bird of the air flys down to get a drink every now and then. However, the human being is still choosing sugary drink over a fresh glass of H20. This question might seem silly after stating the above information on how depend all species is on water, but why do we need water? First of all the human body is about 70 percent water, our blood system and liquid for or joints to decrease rubbing of bone to bone comes from water intake. Water intake affects the temperature of the human body such as sweating to cool down and to assist in getting rid of toxins in our body. Water helps absorbs shock on impact and protect the major organs in the human body, such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, the brain and etc. Water represents about 90 percent of the human blood system. As we learn in essential nutrition the human body break down food with saliva then it begins its travel through our digestive system ,but without water there will be no way to transport vitamin and mineral to tissues and organs. The body would not receive fresh blood because there would be nothing to keep the blood flowing, for example still water in an outside environment is often associated with disease, foul smell and no sign of life this is also true with the human body if water did not assist in the rotation of waste, the waste would stay in the body and just rot away. Water should no longer be options for people but an essential. When a person is taking in a healthy amount of water it improves there over all health. It assist in a healthy weight maintain because sometimes people associate hungry for thirsts, a slight form of dehydrations will cause a person to over eat. Some people will replace water with a soda or juice, however neither one of these high calories drinks will make the body contain and just leave it yearling for more sugary drinks. This habit will promote weight gain because the persons is misreading the signal of his or her our body which is saying to them HEY Im dehydrated and need water, this person could feel fatigue, stuff from a headache, dark urine or even worse can be place in a hospital for IV intake. For instead, 23

I remember when I was younger being admitted to the hospital for being dehydrated. I was unaware of the symptom; I just remember feeling dizzy and much tried. My doctor did not tell me I was going to be admitted until after he walked me over to the area and give the nurses my information. I asked the doctor if I could just drink the water to avoid getting an IV. His responds was no because I would have drunk it already and Ill feel better after my fluid levels went up. Well he was right but I learned a good lesson from that day juice or soda can never replace water and it animals and plants need it to survive, well so do I.I learned never take for granted the simple things because the simple things will save you from bigger problems, If I had been drinking water I would not had to be hospitalize for hours and get a iv.

FIBER

Wellness book
FIBER
What is the big deal with fiber? As consumer we often hear Health Care Provider and television program such as Dr. OZ and The Doctor express their concerns of the public and its intake of fiber. Fiber is a large component in preventing disease such as cardiovascular also known as heart disease, colon cancers, obesity and digestive disorder just to name a few. Although, many of these disease are preventable, but due to the wrong mind set of many people, colon cancer and heart disease are some of the leading causes of death in the America culture today. Until taking essential of nutrition, I believe my thought process of fiber were like many others who had a limited knowledge of this very important ingredient to a healthy lifestyle .I thought that fiber intake was only important for the elder and infants, maybe during to those supplement commercials that view older people are happier once they had their fiber intake for the day. However, proper fiber intake affects everyone and all ages and gender .Fiber is categorized in two basic forms insoluble and soluble. Insoluble fiber comes from our whole grain product and dark green veggie such as wheats, barley, brown rice, broccoli, and cabbage. The human digestive system provide 80 percent of our immune system and to keep a healthy digestive track insoluble fiber is a key factor because it give the stool the mass in passing through the track and it also picks up the toxins an clean our intestinal track, so the toxins do not reenter the intestine walls and end up in our blood system to cause problems over time. Soluble fiber has a protecting like gel to help the solid fiber passing through the intestinal tracks smoothly. Even though insoluble and soluble fiber shares the same name of fiber 26
Wellness book
but both have different function. This two fiber element remains me of peanut butter and jelly, batman and robin the ideal of the perfect comb. Soluble fiber is one of the best foods to eat when one is trying to lose weight or managing there diabetic because soluble fiber makes one feels full and it also slows down the sugar process in the intestinal walls. Food like oats cereal, carrots, oranges, apples are soluble fiber that helps lower bad cholesterols and help to increase good cholesterol. This factor is important because over time a high level of bad cholesterol will cause damage the heart arteries which lead to heart disease. The knowledge and actions of eating both insoluble and soluble fiber cut down the risk of this disease majority. I believe it will also give people stronger confidents in their health instead of fear not knowing if they will be affected with colon cancer, heart disease. Although, some people have battle these disease due to a lack of educating regarding proper eating habit, they notices once they change their diet and start to exerciser there healthy condition change in a positive way for them, but only if they took caution before it could have saved them a lot of unnecessary pain.

MY WELLNESS LIFE
Age: Gender: Total Cholesterol: HDL Cholesterol: Smoker: Systolic Blood Pressure: On medication for HBP: Risk Score*
28 female 200 mg/dL 20 mg/dL No 90 mm/Hg No Less than 1% Means less than 1 of 100 people with this level of risk will have a heart attack in the next 10 years.
* Your risk score was calculated using an equation. Other NCEP products, such as printed ATP III materials, use a point system to determine a risk score that is close to the equation score.
My wellness life shows that I am at less than 1 percent for heart disease. I believe being a nonsmoker and having an active lifestyle helps to lower the risk. However, I do have distant family member who stuff from high blood pressure .Many of those family members are slightly overweight and rarely exercise and sad to say but smoke also. I would continue to push myself to live an active life and continue to find other ways to deal with stress, so I would not have a desire to turn to smoking. Unfortunately, coming in contact with many people who begin smoking because of stress and now they cannot stop the behavior. Although, they are totally aware of the danger and negative side effect they cannot leave it. I really enjoy working out, if all I had to do for the day is workout I would love it, but that is not the real world. I believe a person has to make time to work out and push yourself to work out even if not the gym but a walk in your neighborhood, moving your body for 30 min on lunch break and 15 minutes on regular breaks is better than 29
Wellness book
nothing. At most work places a person can find new ways to keep active such as stair instead of elevate, park far instead of near. If restaurants are close to your job take a walk instead of driving. All of this effect will help a person keep and maintain their activity requirement. Wellness is a priority to me because I want a long and healthy life and I believe in order to have that life you have to start taking care of your body. We only get one body and sometimes as people we are so involved in achieve and maintaining, we forget about the true source of where we lives which is or body. If our body is not well, a person cannot work, finish school, or travel. My lifelong lesson from essential of nutrition is a lot of disease that cause fear in people life is preventable. The part I enjoy the most is share this information with my family member who have diabetic because of poor eating habits and help them see that there are so many other foods you can eat that will help your body. That they do not have to eat pie to satisfied there sweet tooth an apple or cherry will do the same thing but healthier. And eating the wrong foods can damage your intestinal lining making it thin and causing tearing, but I can eat dark greens veggie and oats and nut that help my body functions properly. I believe the reason so many people stuff from obesity and other disease because marketing lie about their products, I use to believe the commercials as well but after taking this class it tough me to look pass the basic image and read the labels that most of us ignore and to truly understand what those labels are telling the consumer.
