pitcher Carlos Torres from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast
League and optioned righthanded pitcher Greg Burke to the 51s...To
make room on the 40-man roster, the club designated righthanded
pitcher Collin McHugh for assignment...Torres will wear #52 and will
be available for todays game...Torres, 30, was 6-3 with a 3.89 ERA
(31 earned runs/71.2 innings) in 12 starts for the 51s...He allowed
71 hits while issuing 19 walks and striking out 67...The Santa Cruz,
CA native threw back-to-back complete games in his last two
appearances on June 3 at Fresno and June 9 at Tacoma...Torres
allowed five hits, one run, earned, with two walks and 15 strikeouts
during that span...Torres pitched in 31 games in relief for the
