SWISS with more passengers and higher load factor

in first nine months
Over the first nine months of 2010 the systemwide load factor on
SWISS flights rose to 82.3%. This corresponds to an increase of 3.1
percentage points against the same period a year ago (2009: 79.2%).
While the seat load factor (SLF) in Europe remained stable at 73.7%
(2009: 74.5%), it climbed by 5.2 percentage points to 86.8% on
intercontinental services. Through January-September of this year
SWISS transported 10 562 126 passengers, which represents a
growth of 3.0% in passenger volume. The number of flights operated
increased by 4.0% to 105 757 (2009: 101 689).
On intercontinental routes, revenue passenger kilometres (RPK)
increased by 8.5% against a 2.0% boost in available seat kilometres
(ASK).
On European routes production in terms of ASK was expanded by
4.2% on a year-ago comparison. Revenue sales kilometres over the
same period rose by 3.0%.
Swiss WorldCargo achieved a significant increase in cargo load
factor based on revenue tonne kilometres, posting an average value
of 80.4% over the past nine months compared to 67.0% for the same
period in 2009.
In September, too, SWISS flights recorded a higher seat load factor
on a month-on-month comparison: 85.2% (2009: 83.8%). The SLF on
European routes was 79.0%, in line with the level for last September
(78.5%). On intercontinental flights SWISS posted growth of 1.5
percentage points with SLF rising to 88.3% (2009: 86.8%).
Systemwide in September, SWISS carried 1 272 060 passengers,
which translates into an increase of 5.5% on a prior-year comparison
(2009: 1 205 958).

Swiss WorldCargo recorded a cargo load factor of 77.8% in

September, marking a gain of 3.9 percentage points on a prior-year
comparison (2009: 73.9%).
