Supporting Children & Families in Colchester

Summer 2013 Activity Programme


If your child(ren) receive Free School Meals, we are able to offer funded child places on the activities below (to a maximum value of 10 per child)

Spaces are limited book early to avoid disappointment Bookings will be taken from 18th June to 4th July 2013 To Book Decide which activities your child would like to do. Call the Child First/Essex Childrens University office 01206 216506 to make your booking o If you are asked to leave a message on the answer-phone please let us know: Childs name/their school/the activity/number of places and a contact number. All places MUST be booked by phone before you send us your booking form Once you have made your telephone booking and we have confirmed your places with you: Complete the booking form and post together with a cheque for the total amount to: o Child First/Essex Childrens University,Alderman Blaxill School, Paxman Avenue, Colchester, Essex. CO2 9DQ Make cheques payable to: The Stanway School (Our finances are still held at The Stanway School) Once we have received your Booking Form and payment, we will send you confirmation details. PLEASE NOTE - If payment has not been received within a week of your provisional booking all places will be cancelled ALL ACTIVITIES WILL BE HELD AT ALDERMAN BLAXILL SCHOOL, PAXMAN AVENUE, COLCHESTER Tuesday 30th July 2013
HRC All Stars Cheerleading www.hrcallstars.com Morning Session: 10am to 12.30pm Afternoon Session: 1.30pm to 4pm Age 7 to 10 years 6 per child Children should wear suitable clothing and bring plenty to drink and a snack.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE MAYBE ADMISSION FEES TO SOME OF THE MUSEUMS, PLEASE CHECK ON THEIR WEBSITE PRIOR TO THE TRIP.

Or simply take a picnic to Greenwich Park.

Have fun dancing, cheering and using pom poms. Learn a simple cheer leading routine

Jumble Juniors Morning Session: 10am to 12.30pm Age: 5 to 8 years 5 per child Children should wear suitable clothing and bring plenty to drink and a snack

Have fun with exercise to music, action songs, dance, games, sports, mini circuits and relays.

The Summer Reading Challenge Creepy House


The Summer Reading Challenge 2013 is organised locally in Essex Libraries. Children aged 4 to 11 years (or aged 5 to 11 years for Childrens University) are invited to read 6 books over the course of the summer holiday. Children can join at their local library and receive a Summer Reading Challenge Pack to get you started. Collect stickers and rewards along the way, with a certificate and often a medal if they read 6 books.
Children can take their passport to their local library and have it stamped for 1 hour of Childrens University learning per book so up to 6 hours of Childrens University learning if they read all 6 books.

Learn acting techniques, make a short film act, operate the cameras and sound equipment. The film will then be professionally edited and a dvd sent out.

Cookery fun, Mini burgers with salsa and pitta bread. Fruit Kebabs and Chocolate Fondue, Strawberry Eton Mess and Homemade Lemonade.
Parents are invited to come back at 12noon to sample the food and drink. Bring a blanket!
