The Historica-Dominion Institute The Canadian Encyclopedia JOB DESCRIPTION: WEB OFFICER (Reports to Web & New Media

a Strategist): The Historica-Dominion Institute is a national charitable organization that was launched on September 1, 2009 through the amalgamation of two existing organizations: The Historica Foundation of Canada and The Dominion Institute. Its mandate is to build active and informed citizens through a greater knowledge and appreciation of the history, heritage and stories of Canada. Some of its signature programs include: Encounters with Canada, The Memory Project, the Heritage Minutes and The Canadian Encyclopedia. The Canadian Encyclopedias Web Officer will be an individual who is passionate about the work of the Institute, has had experience working with a team to achieve deliverables in a timely fashion and is enthusiastic about creating an online legacy for all Canadians. The successful candidate is creative, driven, and connected with like-minded organizations in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

Upload content to The Canadian Encyclopedia (TCE) and The Historica-Dominion Institute (HDI) websites Assist Multimedia Editor by sourcing relevant multimedia from internal database. Crop and, where necessary, manipulate images for use on sites Monitor licences and ensure all content is used in line with correct licensing agreements Assist with monitoring the performance of all content and feedback performance to the Web & New Media Strategist Manage external delivery of content to third parties Assist with content migration during website redesign Work closely with TCE team to provide help and support wherever needed First point of contact for email inquiries from TCE users and general HDI emails related to web. Respond where possible, forward to appropriate team member where necessary. Coordinate updates of and assist with the implementation of new website elements of The Historica-Dominion Institutes web properties Participate in monthly story meetings, help generate content ideas Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: University or College degree in related field; Professional working experience in the non-profit, heritage or education sector an asset; Bilingual (English and French) an asset; Excellent communications skills; Excellent attention to detail; Team player and demonstrated strong interpersonal skills; Flexible and easily adaptable to change; Interest in Canadian history, culture A good working knowledge of the Internet, web information architecture and web technology using Content Management systems to maintain and update websites is required. Some experience with HTML and Photoshop would be an asset.
