The Biotechnology Institute and the
Delaware Valley Innovation Network invite
you to apply to the National Biotechnology
Teacher-Leader Program in 2009.
DVIN will sponsor 28 high school and
community college educators from the tri-
state, 14-County Delaware Valley
Innovation Network Region to attend.
Teachers from across the United States and around
the world participate in the Institute’s intensive
premier teacher training program during the
Conference on Biotechnology Education. Included
in this five-day program is:
 Hands-on sessions to incorporate standards-based
lessons on biotechnology and bioethics into the
curriculum
 Field trips to local biotechnology companies
 Best Practices Day: Sessions that highlight state-of-
the-art curriculum, labs, and programs in
biotechnology
 Networking with colleagues, industry leaders, and
professionals in the field of biotechnology education
 Training in how to provide professional development
to your colleagues
 Full convention access to the 2009 Biotechnology
Industry Organization International Convention. for
May 18 and 19
 Panels on leading issues of biotechnology presented
by renowned scientists
 Recognition and certification as a Teacher-Leader in
biotechnology education
 Opportunity to contend for the Biotech Educator
award in subsequent year
 All materials, books, and supplies
 5 nights Thursday through Monday lodging (double
occupancy), local transportation and meals
 Attendance at the Biotechnology Awards Banquet
 $250 certificate from Life Technologies for supplies
and equipment
 One year of individual membership to the
Biotechnology Institute
