Udhayam Theatre complex
was built in 1983 and has 53
shareholders. For the last
two and half years, the
theatre has been under the
administration of the High
Court-appointed receiver.

appointed Jones Lang
LaSalle Meghraj, real estate
consultants, to aid the
auctioning of the
property.
Though an e-auction was
announced earlier in March,
with a base price of Rs 100
crore there were no takers.
Subsequently the base
price as revised to Rs 29
crores. And on last
Wednesday, the theatre
found a successful bidder.

Association and we are
glad to publish the
contents of the letter in a
nut-shell.
The letter states that
Natesa Nagar Civic
Association is a
registered one
functioning since 1968
and has been extending
civic amenities,
maintenance of a big
temple complex and a
good park. The letter
states that as regards
civic issues, they are
regularly arranging
garbage clearing on a
house-to-house basis by
employing four persons.
It further states that
association has close
rapport with officials of
the corporation and
hence is able to
implement development
works and improvements
in the area - be it roads,
street lights or drainage.
The letter further states
that Mr. Gopalan (as
quoted by the
association by saying that
the association is not
interested in the matter of
the civic needs of Natesa
Nagar. The letter says
that the allegations made
by him against the
association are not based
on truth.
As regards collection of
Rs.250 as half yearly
subscription (as reported
in the newspaper), the
association clarifies that
the amount is Rs 150 half-
yearly and is being
utilised to meet the
salaries of 4 persons and
maintenance of 4
cartages. As regards the
payment of Rs.400 to the
corporation, the
association says that they
are not aware of any such
payments by anybody.
The association states
that the ongoing drainage
repair work in the second
main road is only due to
the persistent efforts of
the association. The
letter says that the
authorities have arranged
the repair work with great
difficulty and they had a
tough time fixing a
contactor to carry out the
work. As regards the
inconveniences cited in
unavoidable during such
works and trying to find
fault with it is not fair.
As regards the human
chain mentioned by the
complainant, the
association says that
their executive committee
