Section 3.6 of the EYFS states: Providers must train all staff to understand their safeguarding policies and procedures, and ensure all staff have up-todate knowledge of safeguarding issues. NDNAs advanced safeguarding programme is a combination of face-to-face, distance and online training which equips learners with the ability to carry out safeguarding training at their nursery for all staff and to meet section 3.6 of the EYFS. By the end of this course learners will be able to: Understand the safeguarding and welfare requirements of the EYFS Describe the role and understand the responsibilities of the designated safeguarding lead Effectively deliver safeguarding training for all staff in the nursery Carry out safeguarding inductions with new members of staff Have a robust safeguarding policy and procedure in place Respond appropriately to any allegations made against a team member Support the nursery team, children and families with any safeguarding issues and concerns. Advanced safeguarding training (face-to-face, one day) By the end of day one learners will be able to: Understand the legislation and guidance relating to safeguarding children Understand the safeguarding and welfare requirements of the EYFS Have a robust safeguarding policy and procedure in place Describe the role and understand the responsibilities of the designated safeguarding lead Understand what may prevent children for disclosing abuse and how to overcome these Support staff to respond effectively to a child who discloses Support staff to report any safeguarding issues and concerns and understand obstacles that may prevent this disclosure Respond appropriately to any allegations made against a team member Make an informed decision about when to take action and how to respond Understand the issues of sharing information including confidentiality Support the nursery team, children and families with any safeguarding issues and concerns Understand the likely actions following a referral and the role of the safeguarding lead and nursery staff.
