GRP Pipe Adhesive Coupling Installation
GRP Pipe Adhesive Coupling Installation
GRP Pipe Adhesive Coupling Installation
Introduction:
Glued coupling joints designed and approved in FARATEC technology centre are made by glass reinforced plastic (GRP) pipes and produced in FARASSAN manufactory according to continues winding method. This kind of joints designed for Biaxial and above ground applications and recommended for more than 300mm of diameter sizes. A glued coupling is longer than a REKA coupling and has four grooves which grinded for gaskets seats and two grinded surfaces between of this grooves that after installation jointed to the pipe by the glue.
Before transporting of this pipes one coupling installed on a side of each pipe in the factory, same as uniaxial pipes and REKA couplings, but usually glue dont injected and its need to fill by adhesive at the installation site.

-Preparation of installation
Glued coupling has no stopper in middle so it needed to be immovable on the pipe by something like clamp that tide on the pipe right by the coupling. Recommended that before installation of pipes, adhesive injected into the installed side of coupling. As told if installed side of coupling does not fill by adhesive suggested that inject the glue according to procedure A and if it has done in the factory you can install the other side according to procedure B.
A.4: Put the pipes on some same thickness woods and check that enough space exists for working (at least 10cm) under the coupling then twist the pipe to one of couplings holes move to top of coupling. This hole will use for vent of air. A.5: Open compressors valve and let to compressed air to push the glue from injection vessel to out of tube. Adjust air flow by regulator to take to good rate of glue, check that air dont issues with glue, now insert output tube into the undermost hole and hold it by hand.

A.6: Glue is filling free space of between of gaskets and is coming up inside of coupling. Check the other holes and wait. When glue comes out from each ones of holes insert a pin and hit it by hummer to seals the leakage. Repeat this way for other holes. When see glue issues from last hole (the top hole) wait to maker sure all of air comes out and then seal the hole.
A.7: Close the valve and remove the tube from the coupling and seal it by pin. Injection of glue now is completely done.

B-Pipe installation
B.1: Prepare the adhesive injection tools before than pipe installation started. B.2: Use grinder to grind end of pipe surface as, just a thin layer of surface removed only. Apply grinding for inside of coupling, on between of grooves.

B.4: Put the gaskets in the grooves like REKA coupling gaskets and make sure that gaskets dont wrinkle.
B.5: String the pipes along of the way as end of each pipe sit in foreside of the coupling.

B.6: Prepare adhesive according to A.3 and daub it on the gaskets and grinded surface of pipe.
NOTE1: Glue in this type of joints use as lubricant as told. Never use another lubricant for installation.
B.7: Bring some belts and tide them on the pipes and use one or two come along jack to connect the belts and pull them together. By keeping of jacking pipe will arrived to coupling and pipe will insert to the coupling. Stop jacking when pipes tangent together.
NOTE2: After that pipes contact together stop jacking. Jacking will damage pipes. NOTE3: Suggested that draw a line around the pipe which has half of coupling length distance from end of pipe. When see the line by the coupling stop jacking. B.8: Inject the prepared glue into the second side of coupling immediately, according to procedure A.5 to A.7, after installation and before than daubed glue on the pipe cured.
NOTE4: Hydrostatic pressure can applied after than at least 12 hours from injecting.
