PRAYER OF CONFESSION Gracious God, Our presence this morning suggests we are faithful followers of you. Yet we know better. We prefer following our ways and habits. We want to follow you, but not when it means discomfort or uncertainty not when it means changing our priorities. Forgive us and draw us toward your life-giving way. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Draw near to me! Thee would I follow wherever Thou shalt lead me, Lord, my mind and heart are stayed on Thee. Though storms arise, Thou art beside me, no darkness can dispel Thy light, through Thee alone mine eyes shall see. In Thee I dwell, my Guide and Father. Though raging tempest surge around me, my joy and shelter Thou shalt be. Thy face I see; Thy voice is saying, When troubled waters would oercome thee, I am forever at thy side. Then would I die, dying victorious! In death or life I shall not fear! I know my soul shall rest in Thee.
Red Hymnal, p. 12
