Sports Football Transfer Rumours Column

So far in this pulsating transfer window weve seen Manchester City splash 30 million on Brazilian midfield star Fernandinho and Liverpool agree a deal in principle for Celta Vigo striker sensation Iago Apas. The Sun say, Man United will hope Real Madrids pursuit on Tottenham ace Gareth Bale can result in the Spanish giants signing him, paving the way for Cristiano Ronaldo to make a remarkable return to Old Trafford. The Welsh wizard could be just the man to replace Ronaldo at Real but United are more than confident that Ronaldo despite Paris St Germains interest will only sign for them if he leaves Spain. Although, according to the Daily Mail Ronaldo recently rejected reports hed signed a new contract with Real, further fuelling speculation of a summer move away. Meanwhile, the Happy One will be ensuring his Chelsea side can keep their Manchester nemesis on their toes. The Blues have increased their interest in luring Marco Van Ginkel to Stamford Bridge from Dutch side Vitesse Amhem after Endivise rivals Ajax admitted they couldnt compete with the wealthy West Londoners. The 8.5 million midfielder is currently playing at the European Under 21 Championships with Holland and won the Dutch Talent of the Year award after making a big impact for his club last season. However, the Blues could be prepared to cash in for 50 million signing Fernando Torres. The Spaniard has failed to

live up to his price tag at Chelsea and despite glimpses rediscovered form from the striker, he just hasnt really seemed to get going. Barcelona are said to be the likely destination for the Spaniard as he tries to regain the confidence and composure in front of goal he had while at Athletico Madrid and Liverpool. Sky Sports say Cesc Fabregas has ruled out a return to former club Arsenal. Despite not being a regular starter at the Camp Nou, Fabregas said: Ive always said that Im happy at Barca. Whoever says that Im leaving doesnt know me and has never spoken with me. But fear not Gunners fans because if Arsenal dont secure Fabregass signature, theyve already got a back-up solution lined up. Anzi Makhachkalas 25-year old midfield player Odil Ahmedov claims he is wanted by the Gunners according to TalkSport. Ahmedov, a highly-rated holding midfielder has been scouted by clubs all over Europe having joined Anzhi in 2011 and played 60 Russian Premier League matches since then. It looks like Andre Villas Boas has a trick up his sleeve as he tries to bolster his Tottenham midfield so his side can aim for a strong Champions League campaign next season. Spurs could be in lining-up a surprise move for Manchester Citys 32-year old midfielder Gareth Barry for 4 million. He could replace Spurs fans favourite Scott Parker who has attracted interest from Sunderland in the North East. (Daily Express). Paris St Germain are hoping to beat Real Madrid in the race to sign Spurs midfield maestro Gareth Bale with an 85

million bid. The French side are also weighing up a move for Spurs head coach Andre Villas Boas as they hope that capturing him could persuade Gareth Bale to follow. (Daily Mail) However, AVB may well stay on at Spurs as reports from the Metro claim that he has told England Internationals Jermain Defoe and Scott Parker that they are two of ten players who could be shown the door this summer. Lastly, Liverpool will hope to tie down Sunderlands brilliant Belgian shot-stopper Simon Mignolet for 8 million next week. They recently had a 7 million bid rejected for the Sunderland star but are holding out at almost 10 million with both sides likely to reach an agreement. Brendan Rodgers is also paving the way for Sevilla forward Luis Alberto, 20 after the Reds captured Celti Vigo striker Iago Apas, 25, for 7 million on Tuesday 11th June 2013. (Daily Star). The Reds will be looking to strengthen their frontline for next season after Luis Suarez who is serving a ten match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic.

Elliots verdict: Asides from these transfers I believe Lewandowskis status is hard to tell because he would be more suited to other team colours than Dortmunds.
