Social Studies Communications & Media Studies (with an academic profile in Journalism Studies) Library Science Psychology (with a background of research methods & statistics in Psychology) QUALIFICATIONS: A good Honours Degree or equivalent in the relevant field. Preference will be given to candidates with postgraduate qualifications and with teaching and/or research experience. SALARY: (PRB 2003) The posts carry salary scales as indicated hereunder: ASSISTANT LECTURER/LECTURER: SENIOR LECTURER: ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR: PROFESSOR: Rs17,600 x 600 20,000 x 800 28,000 x 1,000 30,000 (plus extra remuneration at approved rates) per month Rs28,000 x 1,000 37,000 (plus extra remuneration at approved rates) per month Rs35,000 x 1,000 40,000 (plus extra remuneration at approved rates) per month Rs45,000 (plus extra remuneration at approved rates) per month ..3/

The point of entry within the salary scale will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment will be on a two-year contract basis in the first instance. A gratuity of 25% of salary is payable after every twelve months of satisfactory service and any remaining balance will be paid on satisfactory completion of the contract. Other benefits include:

70% duty remission for purchase of car for academic staff drawing a basic salary of Rs19,400 per month; Car loan facilities at interest rate of 7.5% per annum; Monthly travel grant for those who own a car of: o Rs 5125 for those drawing at least a basic salary of Rs19,400 per month o Rs 7810 for those drawing at least a basic salary of Rs28 000 per month 21 working days Annual Leave on full pay for every year of contract. Annual Leave not taken may be cashed or accumulated; 21 working days Sick Leave on full pay for every year of contract Passage benefit.
