Lawrence Avenue Avenue Streetscape, Streetscape, from from Lawrence Western Avenue Avenue to to Clark Clark Street Street

Western
Project Overview
Beginning in summer 2013, Lawrence Avenue between Western Avenue and Clark Street will be improved as the City renovates the street with infrastructure upgrades and decorative elements. These enhancements are part of a comprehensive streetscaping project designed by the City of Chicago Department of Transportation in close cooperation with community representatives and your alderman. The project improvements will consist of numerous infrastructure and aesthetic elements, including decorative lighting, stamped crosswalks, permeable pavers, landscaped planters and community identifiers highlighting the Lawrence Avenue corridor. The project will also implement a road diet between Western Avenue and Ashland Avenue that will reduce the existing four travel lanes to three. The lane reduction will be accompanied by signal and pavement marking improvements to better accommodate traffic flow, and will allow for sidewalk widening and a new dedicated bike lane throughout the corridor.
