Christ chooses Andrew and Peter.

Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven. Mark 10:4

God gives us freedom!

One of the greatest gifts that God has given us is the gift of freedom. Did you know we are always free to make our own choices?
Todays Gospel lesson tells us the wonderful story of how Jesus Christ chose His first disciples, His first helpers. Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee and He saw two brothers, Andrew and Peter. They were going fishing.
Jesus told them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Andrew and Peter left their nets there and followed Jesus on the spot.

Remember! Jesus didnt force them to follow Him. Andrew and Peter made up their minds to follow Christ.
God always gives us a choice. Of course, sometimes one way is the better way. But God did not make us to be robots! Our Lord gave us this wonderful gift of freedom. Lets ask God to help us make the right choicesthe choices that always follow Him!

! FIND THE FISH

Can you help Saint Andrew and Saint Peter find the fish as they go fishing?

Saint Elizabeth, beauty inside and out!

When Elizabeth, the Grand Duchess of Russia, was married, the world called her the most beautiful woman in the world. But she became even more beautiful with what she did in her life. Elizabeth lived in Russia in a time when people did not have much freedom, and life was dangerous, especially for the royal family. A rebel killed her own husband right in front of her eyes. But Elizabeth showed Christian love, and she visited the man in prison and forgave him. She asked him to become a Christian. After her husbands sad death, Elizabeth gave away all of her wealth. But she used part of her money to start a convent where she was a nun. Russia was now a very scary and hard place to live. She helped many poor and sick people and many orphans in her convent. The Communists, who were now in charge in Russia, hated Christians, and they did everything to keep Christians from believing in Jesus Christ. Elizabeth was killed by these people in 1918. Now St. Elizabeth is a beautiful saint of our Church, and we celebrated her nameday on July 5th (this past Friday).
A good book for kids about St. Elizabeth is Ellas Story: The Duchess Who Became a Saint, by Maria Alexandra Tobias.

Can you find it?

This is called the artophorion, or the tabernacle. Inside is a piece of Holy Communion. Can you find it in your church?
(Look on the altar table!)
