2013 Golf Tournament Results by Bob Stafford

The 14th Annual First Christian Church Benefit Golf Tournament was a success and lots of fun for all of the participants. The Tournament was played on June 21, 2013 at the Kickingbird Golf Course. Thirty two golfers teed it up under sunny skies. Everyone enjoyed the day of good golf, food, and fellowship. The final numbers are being tabulated, but we raised approximately $2,000.00 from the tournament. The funds were used toward the updating of the Breakfast on Boulevard area (basement). The Golf Tournament Committee would like to thank all of the contributors, participants, volunteers and especially the church staff; Jennifer, Karla, and Jeff that helped make the tournament a success. The winners in this years tournament included the Championship Flight winners: Jeff Williams, Caleb Williams, Tim House and Aaron Hallmark with a score of 56. That is 14 under par! The First Flight was won by Bill Denyer, Bill LaRue, Dave Watts and Bob Shane with a score of 66. The putting contest was won by Jeff DeSpain who received a golf lesson from Brian Sorensen, Kickingbird Golf Course head pro. Caleb Williams won the long drive contest and Don DeSpain won the closest-to-the-pin contest. This tournament would not have been successful without the donations from our many sponsors and contributors. Please be sure to thank them when you have the opportunity for their valuable support. These generous tournament supporters include the following: Hole Sponsors: Howell Stone Insurance Merchandise and Services were Donated by: Alvarados Mexican Restaurant, Brian Soerensen (Kickingbird Golf Course Head Professional), Flatire Burgers, Kickingbird Cinema, Larry Griffin, Lottinvilles Restaurant, WalMart Supercenter (Danforth and Sante Fe), Sams Club, and Jos Famous Pizza. He also provided ministry to military personnel on exercises in England, Panama and Honduras. On Sunday, July 14, our guest speaker will be our very own Jim Hays. Retired from the nuclear power utility industry with the U.S. Navy, Jim will share the power of positive prayer which played an important role in his recent heart transplant experience.

Attention All First Christian Church Key Holders:

All entry door locks - for the main church building and the Family Life Center - have been changed (with the exception of the exterior door to BOB - it is the same). This means the keys will no longer work on exterior doors. Access to the exterior doors will be limited to access entry codes, access cards or fobs only. Access entry codes or cards are distributed by FCCEs Business Administrator, Karla Mahan. All interior locks will remain the same. So, those with a key should keep their keys for the doors to the classrooms and closets in each building. Also, for security purposes, please do not unlock exterior doors for your meetings. Participants in your meetings can be given the access entry codes. They will work only during your meeting times, and allow access to the building for all your participants. If you previously had an entry key, you should have received an access code, card or new fob from the office. If you did not receive a code or if you have questions, contact Karla Mahan at 341-3544 or kmahan@fccedmond.org Thank you for your understanding and patience.

All the adventurous campers arrived at Family Camp in Estes Park, CO, and a week later arrived safely back at home. We had a great week of hiking, white water rafting, horseback riding and fellowship! On Sunday, we had the chance to listen to Chaplain Greg Bunton preach, and, then we spent time with him and wife, Julie. It was a wonderful week! Next year, Family Camp is on the calendar for the week of June 22 through June 28, 2014. See you then!
