THE PRICE OF FREEDOM

Today's readings promise that if we could escape from the shackles of our a achments we would be happier, freer, more peaceful. Luke's Gospel begins, "When the days for Jesus' being taken up were fullled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem." Aware of the opposi on and danger awai ng him, Jesus went forward. Naturally, brave people volunteered to join him. But Jesus cau oned them. Could they give up their a achments to home and possessions, friends and family, conven onal responsibili es? A tough challenge, but not unprecedented. Centuries before, Elijah had cri cized Elisha for wan ng me just to kiss his parents good-bye before following Elijah. Just where would such a path take Elisha? Or Jesus' followers? Or us? Paul tells us, "For freedom Christ set us free; so stand rm and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery." The outcome is freedom, but if the requirements don't give us pause, then maybe we're not paying close enough a en on.

TORNADO AND DISASTER RECOVERY COLLECTION 2013

All parishes in the Diocese of San Diego are invited by the United States Conference of Bishops to take up a special collec on for Tornado and Disaster Recovery to assist dioceses impacted by recent natural disasters. Top that o with a carnival run by Chris ansen Amusements, a variety of foods, performances by local talent, and a spectacular kids zone, and you have a community event that draws ar sts, families, and visitors from across southern California and beyond. PRE-CONFIRMATION & CONFIRMATION

Eligibility: To enroll a student for Confirmation they must have been attending a Catholic Formation program or Catholic High School within the last two years and are at least 15 years of age by June 30, 2013. Any young person not eligible to enroll at this time is directed to enroll in the Pre-Confirmation program in order to be eligible for classes the following year. The fee for Pre-Confirmation is $55. COLECTA DE RESCATE DE TORNADOS Y DESASTRES 2013

Todas las parroquias de la Dicesis de San Diego estn invitadas por la Conferencia de Obispos de los Estados Unidos a tomar una colecta especial para el Rescate de los Tornados y Desastres en apoyo a las dicesis impactadas por los recientes desastres naturales. Esta colecta tomar lugar el prximo n de semana 13 y 14 de Julio durante todas las Misas. Por favor u licen el sobre especial para su ofrenda.

La esta anual de Navidad en Julio regresa el 13 y 14 de julio. Una tradicin anual con ms de 150 puestos de artesanas desde decoraciones hasta joyas. LAS INSCRIPCIONES PARA FORMACIN DE FE TERMINAN EL 8 DE SEPTIEMBRE

Para inscribir a sus hijos en el Programa de Formacin de Fe (Catecismo) necesitan estar inscritos como miembros de la parroquia, si an no estn inscritos en la parroquia, pueden hacerlo en la ocina parroquial o por internet antes de inscribir a sus hijos en el Programa de Formacin de Fe. PRE-KINDER A 8 GRADO La preparacin para la Primera Comunin empieza en el segundo grado escolar; la preparacin para el Sacramento es de dos aos. Se requiere una copia del Cer cado de Bau smo del nio/a. Pueden inscribir a sus hijos de la siguiente manera: Completando la forma de inscripcin localizada en la Ocina Parroquial. Imprimiendo la forma de nuestro si o de web, y envindola por correo junto con su pago a la Ocina Parroquial. Completando la Inscripcin en lnea (internet) y hacer su pago por Q-pay en: sanluisreyparish.org La matrcula por cada estudiante es de $55. Se requiere el pago completo en el momento de la inscripcin, si es posible. PRE-CONFIRMACIN Y CONFIRMACIN Elegibilidad: Para inscribir a un estudiante para Conrmacin ellos deben de haber asis do a un programa de Formacin de Fe o a una Preparatoria Catlica dentro de los l mos dos aos y que tengan haya cumplido 15 aos de edad para el 30 de junio del 2013. Cualquier joven que no sea elegible para inscribirse en este momento es dirigido a inscribirse en el Programa de Pre-Conrmacin con el n de ser elegible para la clase de Conrmacin el prximo ao.
