This activity allows you to understand the type of statistical analysis that you are going to use in your paper. 1. Enumerate the researchers problem/s: 1. Problem1: Does family cohesion significantly affect the relationship between protective factors and family resiliency of Sendong victims? 2. Problem2: Does parent-child interaction significantly affect the relationship between protective factors and family resiliency of Sendong victims? 3. Problem3: Does involvement in community significantly affect the relationship between protective factors and family resiliency of Sendong victims? 4. Problem4: Does social support significantly affect the relationship between protective factors and family resiliency of Sendong victims? (Note: This refers to the specific problems that you hope to understand.)

2. Enumerate the researchers hypothesis: 1. Hypothesis1: Family cohesion has a significant relationship with family resiliency of low income families directly affected by the typhoon Sendong. 2. Hypothesis2: Parent-child interaction has a significant relationship with family resiliency of low income families directly affected by the typhoon Sendong. 3. Hypothesis3: Involvement in community significantly has a significant relationship with family resiliency of low income families directly affected by the typhoon Sendong. 4. Hypothesis4: Social support significantly has a significant relationship with family resiliency of low income families directly affected by the typhoon Sendong. Using the statistics book authored by Levin, Fox, & Forde, from researchers hypothesis translate this null statistical hypothesis. NSHypothesis1: Family cohesion does not have a significant relationship with family resiliency of low income families directly affected by the typhoon Sendong. NSHypothesis2: Parent-child interaction does not have a significant relationship with family resiliency of low income families directly affected by the typhoon Sendong. NSHypothesis3: Involvement in community significantly does not have a significant relationship with family resiliency of low income families directly affected by the typhoon Sendong

NSHypothesis4: Social support significantly does not have a significant relationship with family resiliency of low income families directly affected by the typhoon Sendong.

3. Identify the IV and DV in your study. The IVs of our study are the Protective Factors (family cohesion, parent-child interaction, community involvement and social support), while the DV is Family Resiliency. 4. For each variable, please identify the type of data. (Nominal, interval, ratio, ordinal) Family resiliency and the protective factors including family cohesion, parent-child interaction, community involvement and social support are interval type of data. 5. Are you going to study a sample from the population? Or few cases? We will be studying a sample from the populations; for each family, two to three representatives will be sampled.

6. Do you need to explore if socio-demographic characteristics (SDC) have bearing in your dependent variable? Yes. 7. If yes, identify the specific socio-demographic characteristics (Age, Gender, SES are examples of socio-demographic characteristics) a. We will be exploring families with low-income with no definite age and gender. b. Write the statement of the problem with reference to 7a. Does the protective factors significantly affect the family resiliency of low income families directly affected by the typhoon Sendong? c. Write the researchers hypothesis with reference to 7b. The protective factors have a significant effect on the family resiliency of low income families directly affected by the typhoon Sendong. c. Write the statistical null hypothesis with reference to 7b. The protective factors does not have a significant effect on the family resiliency of low income families directly affected by the typhoon Sendong.

8. After answering items 1-7, write the specific statistical analysis that you are going to use for each problem stated in 3 and 8c.

For each problem in this study, linear regression analysis will be use to find out whether each independent variable such as family cohesion, parent-child interaction, community involvement and social support can be a predictor of the level of family resiliency. Multiple regression analysis will be used for the study to find out whether these protective factors can predict the level of family resiliency of low income families in the Calaanan resettlement, and to find out how much each dependent variables are able to explain the dependent variable.
