I feel highly gratified to introduce Mr.

Karthik Thangavel to your esteemed institution for pursuing his graduate study under your aegis. Having known him for the past six years, I have seen him grow from a young enthusiastic sophomore (when I taught him a course on Electronic circuits) to a seasoned electronics engineer. I have based my views about him primarily on his achievements at various stages of his under-graduate courses as his academic adviser during his 5 years course work. His project titled Universal spirit level and Digital slope meter was well appreciated by faculty and peers alike. As the project guide, I observed that he displayed immense enthusiasm in learning concepts related to embedded hardware and software. His meticulous planning and hard work ensured that the project was completed in time and was fully functional. His exemplary work was well rewarded when he was among the top twenty winners of the nationwide fellowship program, Kishore Vaigyanik Protsohan Yojana , conducted and administered by Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in conjunction with Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. This program is funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He was involved in the design of a simulator for the human vocal chords, under the project titled An Impedance simulator for impedance glottogram which was done at Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, under the guidance of Dr PC Pandey, Professor, Electrical Engineering Dept, IIT Bombay. During the final year of his undergraduate course, he worked on a project with Delphi Automotive Systems, a pioneer in the field of automotive electronics. At Delphi, he successfully completed a project, code named Development of a Programmable Vehicle Simulator using System on Chip (SoC) . In his role as a team leader of an eight member team he was remarkable and his ability to handle complex situations was clearly evident. Apart from his academics, he was very proactive in most of the institute activities. He was a member of the executive committee for the student body in the college and also was the class representative in the final year of the course. He was also an active member of our student association and was elected as the treasurer for the body in 2004-2005. Currently he wishes to pursue a Master of Science course in Embedded systems. Having known him for so long, I trust that Karthik has a great potential to excel in his graduate studies. I strongly recommend his admission in your reputed university with full assistantship as applicable by your policies.
