Holy Cross College Welcomes Andrea Zick, Director of the College Success Program
NOTRE DAME, IN (July 10, 2013) Andrea Zick comes to Holy Cross College from University of Wisconsin-Parkside where she served as the First Year Experience Coordinator. Ms. Zick will serve as an academic advisor for first and second-year students. She will also be leading the Holy Cross College Success Program (CSP), a unique one-year academic support program that has been developed to assist students in the transition from the high school educational experience to the academic demands of collegiate study. CSP provides one-on-one attention for students who participate. It can be particularly effective for the student whose academic record suggests that additional academic preparation and support will enhance the chances of a successful and rewarding college experience. Holy Cross is a small and vibrant community that is focused on students success, says Zick. Im excited to join a team that is welcoming and progressive, focused on the retention and

graduation of their students. It will be exciting to teach and learn from the students and they progress through their college career. During her time at UW-Parkside, she oversaw freshman orientation for 750 students, Parent and Family Programs, First-Year peer mentoring programs, and social media for the class. She developed a career exploration program for incoming students and started the alternative spring break trip for first year students. Prior to UW-Parkside, Andrea worked at Otterbein University as the Assistant Director for the Center for Student Involvement in orientation, student center operations and had a collateral position as a hall director. "Andreas academic preparation and past employment in higher education has ideally prepared her for her new role at the College," states Brian Howard, Director of Academic and Student Development. "Our mission at Holy Cross is not just to take great students and keep them challenged, but also to find those students who have the potential to be great and draw it out of them. Andrea is very enthusiastic about helping young people. She has a proven track record and we are very pleased that she has chosen to continue that work at Holy Cross." Ms. Zick earned her bachelors degree in communication and business from Aquinas Collage and her masters degree in education from Grand Valley State University. Andrea enjoys riding and training her horse Rosie, summer road trips, and updating old houses. She resides in Saint Joseph, Michigan.
