EssaySince the beginning of time, humans, especially females, have decorated themselves with flowers, beads, colours, gems etc, to make themselves beautiful. Discuss.

Since primitive times, humans, especially females, have decorated themselves for purposes regarding beauty and fashion. This is apparent for many reasons, such as ceremonial requirements, cultural deeds and to represent their character or belief. This discussion will propose reason as of why we humans decorate ourselves. Humans have decorated themselves because of ceremonial reasons. In the primitive times, humans would decorate themselves with paint and feathers to celebrate an important part in their culture or their lives. These traditions have passed down into the future traditions and now we also have habits of putting decorations on ourselves. An example of this might be Christmas when we wear those red hats and decorate things red. Why? Because the decorations symbolizes this celebration/ceremony. This is ceremony is best illustrated by the colours red and green; Red to symbolize the blood shed by Christ for our sins and green to symbolize the eternal life in Christ. Decorations are also used by us to symbolize and represent our character and beliefs. Decorating our belongings, or even us, makes us enjoy the sentimentality of the additions the we bring to our objects. And hence, people will identify the object as the individual s for the unique features. An example of this is when you decorate your computer with stickers, or have a key ring hanging on your phone. This is a very personal thing More externally people do it for symbolism, expressing themselves to others. Similarly we decorate ourselves to show uniqueness and to express ourselves and advertise who we are. Humans have always decorated themselves since the beginning of time. This is mainly due to the reason of symbolizing something, whether its a special occasion (Christmas) where you decorate yourself by wear a red hat, or to express yourself and show uniqueness and ownership.

News and Views- relations Trauma of teenager's fatal allergy to nuts still affects a community
HENRY CHO gently rocked his head and pressed his lips together as he tried to be strong and answer questions about his son's death. But, amid the procedure and formalities of Glebe Coroner's Court, Mr Cho could not hold back and soon told a room full of strangers what was haunting him. ''I just wanted to say I'm not a good father. I cannot protect my son.'' To all at the inquest into the death of his 16-year-old son Raymond, who collapsed on May 19 last year after suffering a severe allergic reaction to a walnut biscuit he ate at school, it was clear Mr Cho was wrong. Mr Cho always made sure Raymond had the right medications and avoided dangerous foods and had rushed to his side when he called that day to say he was feeling sick. During the inquest, he often held a picture of his son and the trauma of the teenager's death continues to ripple though his family, the Ashfield Boys' High School community and his friends. It also triggered changes to the way NSW schools deal with the increasing number of children who suffer from food allergies. Advertisement The biscuit the teenager ate was baked by a school friend in a cooking class, but the student, who cannot be named, said he did not realise Raymond had a nut allergy when he shared the batch with a group of boys. Those boys, some lanky and wearing school blazers a size too big, sat in front of a row of lawyers to recall that day. The boy who baked the biscuits was asked several times whether he told Raymond they contained walnuts, or if he only said they did not have peanuts. He was adamant: ''I asked Raymond if he wanted some and he said he was allergic to peanuts but I told him there was walnuts, so he took a bite.'' The State Coroner, Mary Jerram, comforted the boy who baked the biscuits when she heard he had written an apology. ''I don't think you should spend time feeling guilty about it. It's a terrible accident and you did nothing wrong so please don't blame yourself.'' The boy broke down in tears after he left the courtroom. Many of the teachers were equally stressed when they remembered how Raymond fell to his knees on a basketball court, struggling to breathe . The inquest heard that teachers, following school protocol, tried to call the front office to get an ambulance, but the emergency call was delayed because there was a staff meeting.

The school's first aid officer, Karen Meers, described how a casual teacher tried to give Raymond a dose of adrenaline from an EpiPen, but accidentally pricked himself. ''[He] went to administer it, but the pen was upside down and it went into his thumb.'' In a school newsletter the month after Raymond died, the principal, Daisy Kokkalis, told how his death had affected the school and his family. ''It is very hard to accept the death of a child. He was loved by his friends, by all of us; he had the world at his feet but suddenly his life was cut short. It is very hard for a school community to lose one of their own.'' The Department of Education and Communities has since introduced changes including compulsory training in anaphylaxis and emergency care for all staff. Ms Jerram, who constantly reassured everyone involved that the inquest was not looking to cast blame, told Raymond's family his memory would live on. ''We will not forget.'' On Friday Ms Jerram handed down her findings and said nobody would ever know why Raymond, who had very mild learning disability, ate the biscuit. She said it was caused by the ''small things that add up to be a tragedy'' and no one was to blame.
