IN-HOUSE ENGLISH TRAINING Asuransi Jasindo INTRODUCTION
Lembaga Bahasa Internasional FIB UI is an academic venture unit within The Faculty of Humanities, University of Indonesia. Its establishment was mainly intended for integrating three existing language service units in the faculty, as well as improving their efficiency. The three language service units are Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing, Program Pelayanan Bahasa, and Program Pengembangan Penerjemahan. Through Program Pelayanan Bahasa (PPB), LBI FIB UI provides language courses and training programs covering several main languages, such as English, German, Dutch, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian and Spain. However, over time, LBI FIB UI has been encouraged to adapt to the growing and changing demands of the market, which now needs much more than just language courses and training programs. Consequently, LBI FIB UI has expanded its services to wider service areas, which are still related to language as its main focus. Recently, LBI FIB UI has offered a great range of services including in-house training programs as well as short workshops and courses, various kinds of language proficiency tests, translation and interpreting services and many kinds of consultation services related to language and language centre management. These services will always be expanded to keep up with the changing demands of the market and the latest developments in the society. In rendering its services, LBI FIB UI always considers the unique needs of its clients and tries to provide specially designed services or courses based on those needs. Its long experience as well as competent instructors and specialists are also an assurance for the best results of those services. WHY LBI FIB UI?

Process Oriented We realize that adult learning is a long process that requires special effort, so our training programs and courses focus on the development of each individual at each learning stage. Experienced Instructors All of our instructors are experienced language specialists and educators who always keep up with the most recent research and methodologies in teaching. Most of the instructors are UI graduates and hold graduate degrees from various reputable universities in the UK, USA and Australia. They have all been selected on the basis of their teaching experience and their command of the English language. Individually Tailor-made The length, substance and methodology of every course and training program we offer are specially designed based on the needs-analysis we carry out prior to the commencement of the course. Latest Teaching Methodology We realize that second language learning for adults is something that needs efforts. In delivering the teaching material we are aware of the importance of the appropriate methodology for language learning for adults. Thus, in every one of our language classes, we will avoid the lecturing methodology which has proved to be less effective. Instead, we will ask the participants to actively analyze the language points necessary. This particular method is more effective for the participants to absorb the material since they are always encouraged to be active and critical in class. Detailed Reports and Certificates At the end of the program, LBI FIB UI is responsible for submitting a final course report to the company. This report includes the running of the program, the performance of the each participant completed with their scores and results, as well as the teachers comments on the participants improvement. Certificates from LBI FIB UI will be given to those who have fulfilled the requirements. Accurate Placement Our placement test is specially designed to measure accurately the language proficiency of learners in order to join a course that is suitable for their interests and level. We also conduct interviews to learn more about the learners motivation and background, which will help us to place them in the right course or training program.
THE COURSE PLAN

LBI FIBUI is proposing Academic Writing Course, as follows:
Academic Writing Course This course is specially designed for those who wish to improve their skills in writing for academic purposes, with the focus on research writing. It aims at improving participants language skills by exposing them to the organizational patterns, structures, steps and tips for personal improvement.
Please note that when required, the offered course can be adjusted pursuant to clients needs. On the next page is the complete description of the course.
COURSE DESCRIPTION & OBJECTIVES

ACADEMIC WRITING
TOTAL DURATION
40 (forty) hours This course is specially designed for those who wish to improve their skills in writing for academic purposes, with the focus on research writing. It aims at improving participants language skills by exposing them to the organizational patterns, structures, steps and tips for personal improvement. By the end of the course, the participants are expected to be able to:

GENERAL OBJECTIVES
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
choose and approach a topic for writing; explain the basic elements of academic writing in English; identify types of writing; make a clear and focused statement of problem and identify the controlling idea; write a good outline; develop an outline based on ideas identified in the statement with emphasis on clarity, accuracy and flow of ideas; review someones piece of writing and give feedback on its clarity, flow and task achievement. Depending upon the result of the placement test prior to the course: Beginner, intermediate, upper-intermediate The clients premises or LBI FIB UI Depok Monday-Friday, 6 (six) hours per session Depending upon the clients preference

COURSE ACTIVITIES
We encourage the use of the communicative approach for teaching English as a Foreign Language. The principal aim of this approach is to develop the learners competence in English by teaching the language in meaningful situations with emphasis on communicative functions and ensuring maximum student-talking time.
PLACEMENT TESTS
To ensure the balance between the material and the language proficiency levels of the participants, a written placement test will be carried out to the participants prior to the course.

Midterm Test Final Test
REPORTS
LBI FIB UI will submit a report on the course and participants at the end of the course; 14 (fourteen) working days after all the courses have been completed.
