Lassiter High School Hosts Georgia 7on7 Invitational this Weekend

Marietta, GA (July 15, 2013) Top High School football programs from Georgia and South Carolina will compete in the Georgia 7on7 Invitational, hosted by Lassiter High School in Marietta, GA, July 19-20. The two-day event has 32 teams battling it out for a chance to play in the National Select 7on7 Championships held in Hoover, AL July 24-26. In addition to the National Select format and brand, we feel this event has been successful due to the tremendous competition and the quality of teams who participate, Jep Irwin, Head Football Coach, Lassiter High School says. The chance to qualify and compete at the National Select Championships is a major draw for teams. We also like to think that we do a good job as hosts in providing a great facility and event staff to host a large tournament. The Georgia 7on7 Invitational starts Friday, with teams competing in pool play. Based on each teams performance during pool play games, they will be seeded for Saturdays double-elimination tournament. Each game during the event will be 21 minutes in length, with two state high school officials on the field at all times. The Invitational will wrap-up with a championship game Saturday afternoon, and the winner of the event will go on to represent this tournament in the National Championships in Hoover, AL. The 11th annual National Select 7on7 Championships presented by Under Armour, is the premiere team 7on7 in the Country, where only the best teams are invited to compete. The Georgia 7on7 Invitational is the final National Select 7on7 Qualifying Tournament (QT) to be held this summer. The winner from this event and the twelve other QTs will have a chance to play for the National title, July 24-26. Thirty-two teams from 13 different states will participate in the National Championships this year. Georgia Teams Participating in the Georgia 7on7 Invitational are: Alpharetta, Cartersville, Centennial, Cherokee, Duluth, Dutchtown, Eagles Landing, Flowery Branch, Hillgrove, Jackson Co., Jefferson, Jonesboro, Kell, Lassiter, Lovejoy, Mays, North Cobb, North Gwinnett, North Gwinnett, Northview, Rabun Co., Shaw, Shiloh, South Forsyth, Walton, Wheeler, and Westminster.
