Established in 1992, Cypress Lakes Golf & Country Club was the first of a new generation of upscale golf and country clubs, situated in iconic leisure destinations. The concept behind Cypress was to underpin the Golf & Country Club with an international standard championship golf course built to the most rigorous USGA quality standards, conceived by one of the worlds leading golf course designers. These key elements were crucial in enabling Cypress to realise its vision in becoming the first luxury Golf & Country Club of its kind. Building on its early success, Cypress continued its evolutionary path to become Australias first luxury golf and spa resort. Cypress is unique in being the only Steve Smyers designed course in Australia. In the year of Cypress development, American-born Smyers was awarded the coveted Golf Architect of the year award in the USA as well as being named the leading architect of Next Generation Golf Courses by Golf World. Cypress retains the elements of strategic, risk reward design principles of the Golden Age of golf course design.
