Opposition groups in Bahrain are appealing for authorities to call off crackdown warnings over plans for a major antigovernment rally next month. Bahrain ministry warns against joining protest


Bahrains interior ministry has warned citizens against taking part in the Tamarod (rebel) protest scheduled for August 14. The Interior Ministry warns people not to respond or react to incitement from political events and social media posts that use Rebellion August 14 and

encourage the overthrow of the government, the ministry said in a statement. Rallies and activities that affect security, public order, civil peace and the interests of the people are against the law. Participants will have legal procedures taken against them, the statement said. The Tamarod movement was launched in emulation of the popular drive in Egypt that helped topple the president. Assailants hurled rebombs at the home of a Shiite lawmaker in Bahrain on Monday, without causing any casualties even though his family was inside at the time, parliament said.

It was unclear if the lawmaker, Abbas al-Madi, was himself at his home in the town of Deir, near the capital Manama, during the early morning attack. Egypt: Mansour Discusses Boosting Ties With Bahrain


Interim President Adly Mansour held a meeting with Bahraini Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Abdullah al-Khalifa and his accompanying delegation on Thursday at Heliopolis presidential palace.

The meeting was attended by Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr, and president's security, political and media advisers Raafat Shehata, Mostafa Hegazy and Ahmed El-Meslemani, respectively.
