Vietim states that suspect Stephens advised he was authorized by the Athens-Clarke ty Tea Party Patriots to pay $10,000.00 to speak at the Classic Center on 06/29/2013 to an approximate crowd of 2,500 attendees. Victim was also to be reimbursed all travel expenses when the receipts were emailed to him, Victim agreed to speak at the event, Victim states that when she arrived in Athens on 06/29/2013, she was told by another speaker Derek Grayson that suspect Stephens had the event moved from the Classic Center to the Comfort Inn & Suites because the Classic Center had cancelled the event at the last minute, Attendees and speakers had been advised to book their rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn because it was across the street from the Classic Center, and the attendees had not been told of the venue change. There were only approximately 75 people in attendance at the conference, Vietim states that after speaking at 1900 hours and inquiring about her fee, suspect Stephens told vietim to set up a Pop Money account and the fee would be deposited. Victim gave suspect Stephens her bank routing and business account numbers, Victim contacted the Tea Party Patriots organization and was told that they were not sponsoring the event. Vietim states that Mr Stephens sold tickets to attendees advertised at differing levels such as “Convention Table’, "VIP Package’, “Back Stage Passes’, and other catagories for the event at the Classic Center, but upon arrival at the Comfort Inn & Suites the event was conducted in a room with about 70 chairs, no tables, and no stage, Several elderly people attending the event were upset and demanded their money returned but suspect Stephens refused. Victim returned home and was (old by suspect Stephens that the delay in getting paid her fee and reimbursed was due to lawyers were involved because the Classic Center did not return the group's l expenses totalled $1,039.80, and including her speakers fee of $10,000.00 she is out $11,039.80, Victim faxed to undersigned a two page synopsis of events and has further documentation for nvestigators.
