PLP TASK 4
My first career choice is a scientist. To become a scientist I must study as hard as I can for all tests and assignments in subjects related to my future career. In science subjects I will strive especially hard and will possibly complete extracurricular research to satisfy my curiosity and to help me in future years. A scientist is an extremely broad gender however I would say that a related job would be a science teacher. The education and training needs would include a working knowledge of Physics, Chemistry and some Biology. Knowledge of advanced maths is also assumed. Currently only Flinders University offers a bachelor of Science but UniSA will offer one very soon, (before I graduate). My second career choice is beekeeping. Although Im not expecting to become a beekeeper because Im so focused on the Bachelor of Science, I still think it is good to have a backup. Before I become a beekeeper, I want to still try to do the Bachelor of Science. If that doesnt appeal to me or just doesnt work out I can consider beekeeping. There arent really many jobs related to beekeeping There arent any degrees or training programs for beekeeping in Australia however if I chose to become a beekeeper, I would volunteer to work with as many beekeepers as possible to gain knowledge and experience. I have decided to choose the following year 11 subjects; maths A, B, C, D, two semesters English, two semesters Chemistry, two semesters Physics and 1 semester Human Biology. That is 11 subjects in total, plus the research project, which means that I will miss out on 1 mentoring subject in semester 1. I chose these subjects because I think they will best suit my career goals. I dont think that PLP has helped me at all in choosing new subjects, as I already knew what I wanted to do. The PDF file with the subject connections and credits for each subject helped me choose exactly which subjects, however, if I would have been given the subject selection sheet for next year at the same time, I would have chosen the same subjects without help. I will still need to decide whether I will do 4 or 5 subjects in year 12 but I have all of next year to decide and see how I cope with the workload. If it doesnt work out I can always drop a subject. I am aiming for an ATAR of over 95 so that I can get into an advanced bachelor of science instead of a normal one. I will work toward this goal throughout the rest of my schooling life.
