REX Piles is the add-in for Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis which allows including the elasto-plastic pile-soil interaction in the analysis of structures supported on piles.

It lets you account for pile-soil interaction by calculating the distribution of horizontal and vertical ground reaction moduli along the pile shaft and by specifying elastic characteristics of the pile base support. Distributions of ground reaction moduli are then changed to characteristics of supports and generated in Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis as a system of elastic supports distributed along the member axis.

Scope of Calculations:
REX Piles is used to analyze the pile-soil interaction for different pile types. Calculations are performed for a single pile or a group of piles, vertical or inclined (at an angle up to 45 degrees). Definition of the pile parameters is based on geometrical data of a member selected in Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis: length, cross-section shape (circular, square, rectangular or composed) and cross-section dimensions (such as radius and side dimensions). Afterwards, you specify parameters of the type and technology of pile manufacturing and define layers of soil where the pile is situated. After the required parameters are defined, REX Piles calculates variability of the reaction moduli Kx(z) and Kt(z) along the pile shaft and the characteristics of the elastic support of the pile base Kp, Kb and Kr. The pile-soil interaction is represented in the calculation model by a system of elastic supports distributed along the member axis and elastic supports of the pile base. Elastic supports perpendicular to the pile shaft (with the stiffness kx) express the soil reaction to lateral displacements of a pile, while tangent supports (with the stiffness kt) - the soil reaction to longitudinal displacements. The pile-soil interaction through the pile base (pressed piles) is represented by the elastic supports: axial (with the stiffness Kp), perpendicular to the axis (with the stiffness Kb) and rotational (with the stiffness Kr). Finally, REX Piles sends information about a number, distribution and characteristics of elastic supports to Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis. As a result, you obtain a calculation model of a pile which accurately represents real work of the pile in the ground.
