B3 Architects Offers Pro Bono Assistance to Jesusita Fire Victims

As we watched the Jesusita fire grow from 5 acres to 150 acres the first day, we had a sense of
bewilderment that yet another fire could hit Santa Barbara in under a year. As long time Santa Barbara
residents, many in our firm were evacuated or had friends and family members evacuated. As we chose
which items to take with us, and which to leave behind, we experienced first hand the fear of losing our
homes and all the possessions and memories connected to our homes. As some of us were evacuated
and relocated to friend’s houses, we watched the firefighter’s online and on the news fighting to save our
individual homes and community.

As the fire reaches containment, we are grateful and relieved for all the homes saved, yet we are deeply
saddened by the tragic losses our friends and community members have undergone as victims of the
Jesusita Fire.

As architects, we would like to offer the following pro bono services to homeowner Jesusita Fire Victims:

Initial Consultation:
Review of the City Rebuild Process
Review of standard City Approvals/Permit Process
Assistance in identifying your rebuild priorities, constraints and objectives

Initial Research:
Availability of archive plans and permit records for reconstruction
Case specific Zoning and Building Code requirements
Special circumstances to be resolved for rebuilding (ie, no archive plans, discrepancies, minor
changes)
Site visit / evaluation
Prepare a detailed proposal for architectural services that will be required for the reconstruction of
property

On the reverse of this page, we have compiled a list of phone numbers and websites that we believe will
be helpful for you during this time.
