THE POWER OF CHOICE

Choices we all have them, we all have to make them, and we all have to live with the consequences of the one we make. Our exercise of the power of choice determine the outcomes the outcome; in our lives and more importantly in our eternal destiny. The master who we choose to live for this day will determine if we shall ascend upward to heaven or shall we descend downward to perdition. We should therefore purpose to use our wills rightly so that we shall not be ashamed to reap the consequences of our own doing. Shall the king of glory exalt us to this right hand saying, Well done, good and faithful servants or shall it be the better words. Depart from me, you cursed (Matthew 25:21, 41). The decision of our destiny is now at our hands and it depends on our exercise of our power of choice. Education pg 23 Therefore he gave them the power of choice the power to yield or to withhold obedience. To our first parents, he gave them the power of choice and when they chose to withhold obedience, they lost heaven and the kingdom of the glory given them. Ministry of healing pg 176 Whatever may be our inherited or cultivated tendencies to wrong, we can overcome through the power that he is ready to impart, the power of will. This is the governing power in the nature of man the power of decision, of choice. Everything depends on the right action of the will God has given us the power of choice; it is ours to exercise. We cannot make ourselves pure, fit for Gods service. But we can choose to serve God, we can give Him our will; then He will work in us to will and to do according to his good pleasure. Thus our whole nature will be brought under the control of Christ. Through the right exercise of the will an entire change may made upon the life. In Deuteronomy 30:10-19, choice was posed to the Israelites to choose between life and death whether they would serve God or not. To us this call is still there. Shall we choose life or death? Step to Christ pg 44 True Joy is to have Christ, the hope of glory in the life. We shall need to understand the value of will power. The power of choice is the ruling power in life. Everything depends on the right use of this power. God ha given the power of choice to each person, and it is their to use. We cannot change our hearts. We cannot by ourselves give our love to God. But we can choose to love him. We can give him the power of our mind. Then he will help us choose the right way. Our whole being will be guided by the Spirit of Christ. We will love God and our thoughts will be like his. We ought to make Davids prayer the petition of every soul. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me (Psalms 51), that we may submit our wills for him to guide us in our daily lives as we give up worldly affections and Set our minds on things above (Colossians 3:2).

Message to young people pg 151.1 You cannot control your impulse, your emotions, as you desire, but you can control the will, and you can make an entire change in your life. By yielding your will to Christ, your life will be hid with Christ in God, and allied to the power which is above all principalities and power. If we resolve to fight the fight of faith with all our power, we will conger. We should give the lord undivided service and he will unite our will with his will and will do for us that which it is not possible to do for ourselves.

Step to Christ pg 72 By a tie of love that can never be broken by any power save the choice of man himself. Satan will constantly present allurements to induce us to break this tie-to choose to separate ourselves from Christ. Here is where we need to watch, to strive, to pray, that nothing may entice us to choose another master, for we are always free to do this. But let us keep our eyes fixed upon Christ, and He will preserve us. Looking unto Jesus, we are safe. The faith I live by pg 114 The Low of God can be kept perfectly by man in the same way Jesus kept it, by the wholly spirits power, when we are willing to be made willing to merge our will with Gods in a continuous relationship of obedience to the truth. Example of exercise of the power of choice: 1. The young ruler (Luke 18:18-23) Desire of ages 519-520 Christ gave this man a test. He calls upon him to choose between the heavenly treasure and worldly greatness. The heaven treasure was assured him if he would follow Christ. But self must yield; his will must be given unto Christ control. Christs words were verily to the ruler the invitation, Choose you this day whom you will serve (Joshua 24:15). But he failed to yield his will to Christs for the sale of worldly greatness. 2. Daniel and Joseph Daniel 1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart to obey God.

Messages to young people pg 27 In the history of Joseph, Daniel and his fellows, we see how the golden chain of truth may bind the youth to the throne of God. They could not be tempted to turn aside from their course of integrity. They valued the favor of God above the favor and praise of princes, and God loved them and spread his shield over them. Because of their faithful integrity, because of their determination to honor God above every human power, the Lord signally honored them before men.

CONCLUSION On earth man alone of all creature has the capacity to know Gods will and to choose for or against God. Adam in sinless flesh chose to obey God (Genesis 2:16, 3:1-13). Christ in sinful flesh chose to obey God. Therefore now, it is not our nature but choice which is the critical factor in weaving the web of our eternal destiny.

May God Bless You!
