Message to young people pg 151.1 You cannot control your impulse, your emotions, as you desire, but you can control the will, and you can make an entire change in your life. By yielding your will to Christ, your life will be hid with Christ in God, and allied to the power which is above all principalities and power. If we resolve to fight the fight of faith with all our power, we will conger. We should give the lord undivided service and he will unite our will with his will and will do for us that which it is not possible to do for ourselves.
Step to Christ pg 72 By a tie of love that can never be broken by any power save the choice of man himself. Satan will constantly present allurements to induce us to break this tie-to choose to separate ourselves from Christ. Here is where we need to watch, to strive, to pray, that nothing may entice us to choose another master, for we are always free to do this. But let us keep our eyes fixed upon Christ, and He will preserve us. Looking unto Jesus, we are safe. The faith I live by pg 114 The Low of God can be kept perfectly by man in the same way Jesus kept it, by the wholly spirits power, when we are willing to be made willing to merge our will with Gods in a continuous relationship of obedience to the truth. Example of exercise of the power of choice: 1. The young ruler (Luke 18:18-23) Desire of ages 519-520 Christ gave this man a test. He calls upon him to choose between the heavenly treasure and worldly greatness. The heaven treasure was assured him if he would follow Christ. But self must yield; his will must be given unto Christ control. Christs words were verily to the ruler the invitation, Choose you this day whom you will serve (Joshua 24:15). But he failed to yield his will to Christs for the sale of worldly greatness. 2. Daniel and Joseph Daniel 1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart to obey God.
Messages to young people pg 27 In the history of Joseph, Daniel and his fellows, we see how the golden chain of truth may bind the youth to the throne of God. They could not be tempted to turn aside from their course of integrity. They valued the favor of God above the favor and praise of princes, and God loved them and spread his shield over them. Because of their faithful integrity, because of their determination to honor God above every human power, the Lord signally honored them before men.
CONCLUSION On earth man alone of all creature has the capacity to know Gods will and to choose for or against God. Adam in sinless flesh chose to obey God (Genesis 2:16, 3:1-13). Christ in sinful flesh chose to obey God. Therefore now, it is not our nature but choice which is the critical factor in weaving the web of our eternal destiny.
