LO 2 Maintain Training Equipment and Tools Objectives : To execute regular maintenance activities.

Contents: Regular maintenance activities Preventive Maintenance Schedule of Facilities, Equipment & Tool Maintenance Plan Regular Maintenance Activities: Check the Maintenance Schedule of every equipment, tools and workshop regularly. Review what equipment and tools including the workshop that are scheduled for maintenance. Refer with the Facilities/Equipment Logbook History for its status. Recommend for repair/service and/or replacement to immediate supervisor. Dispose any unserviceable equipment or tools. Document completed maintenance activities. Some basic rules/procedure in maintaining equipment and tools 1. Better organized Storage When using equipment, tools and materials from tools/storage room, one must have a list on what to use. Never get tools which are not needed on the specified module or required task. Not OK OK

5. Make your equipment easy to move to where it is needed. You may use and fabricate some equipment like; 1. A cylinder truck with cylinder retainer chains. A divider makes handling safer. 2. A mobile work-station like some fixtures in Plumbing. 3. A small mobile repair bench enables maintenance and repair workers to be self-sufficient at any place on the shop-floor.

8. Conduct regular maintenance. In the conduct of a regular maintenance of the equipment one must always refer to the updated Equipment Logbook History and Preventive Maintenance Plan. Follow the procedure of the Maintenance Plan activities. 9. Store and label tools and equipment safely and appropriately.

10. For Safety always consider: 1. Safety of oneself and other person present. 2. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is very important. 3. Safety in the use of tools and equipment used. 4. Safe handling of the materials. Report complex faults or repair requirements outside of your area of responsibility to specialist. This is to avoid further damage of the equipment.

Responds to any faults or unsafe equipment to avoid damage and/or accident. Always keep the workshop/training area clean, orderly and safe for work before and after training. Any faults and unsafe equipment must be right away reported to your immediate Head/Supervisor for referral to specialist. Do not just neglect any faults and unsafe equipment seen in the work area. Document and report maintenance and repair activities .

As a policy, inventory of equipment and tools, maintenance of training facilities and its disposal must be documented and reported regularly using the Equipment Logbook History. Prepare inventory and maintenance report to your supervisor regularly for documentation and future use.

Objective: I. Develop and maintain a 2 years Preventive Maintenance Plan/Schedule of Facilities: Equipment & Tools which can be adopted in your school/institution. Time Allotment: 30 minutes Instructions: 1. Listen to your facilitator while explaining the sample template. 2. Prepare your materials 3. Formulate a Preventive Maintenance Plan/Schedule of Facilities: Equipment & Tools which is adoptable in your institution/ school.

For Column 1, List down all major facilities, equipment and tools found in your inventory of tools . Column 2 , List down activities from the legend which you think is necessary in every component under column 1. Column 3 to 9, Mark check the frequency of the activities to be done. Column 10, List down the names/or designation of a person you think are directly involve or major actors of the activity. Column 11, Make important remarks for your reference and information. Legend, List down possible maintenance activities to the qualification, needed in column 1. 4. Submit your work to your facilitator for review and your supervisor (Head/Administrator) for approval. 5. Approved plan will be part of your evidences during micro-teaching and assessment.

Objective: 1. Develop and maintain a Facilities/Equipment Logbook History which could be adopted in your school/institution. Time Allotment: 30 minutes Instructions: 1. Listen your facilitator explaining the sample template to used. 2. Prepare your materials. 3. Formulate a Facilities/Equipment Logbook History which is adoptable in your institution/ school. For Column 1, List down all facilities, equipment and tools just like in the first task Column 2, If there is no equipment history logbook, copy the dates from the existing inventory of tools and equipment listed. Column 3, List down specific trouble that were observe in every item. Column 4, List down every action taken on the observed trouble/defects of all listed items. Column 5, Make important remarks for your reference and information. 4. Let your facilitator check your work for review and to your supervisor (Head/Administrator)for approval 5. Approved plan will be part of your evidences during micro-teaching and assessment.
