SECTION INCLUDES Garbage compactor, component fittings, and accessories, ready for use as complete functional system. Trash Container, Trash Dumpsiter, Hose Bib with Hose, Trash Can Drying Rack and Washer, and Other Accessories to complete the system. Cold Garbage Room with Evaporator Coil. Waste Bin and Hopper Standard: Comply with ANSI Z245.30, "Refuse Collection, Processing, and Disposal Equipment--Waste Containers--Safety Requirements." MAINTENANCE SERVICE Maintenance: Beginning at Substantial Completion, provide 12 months' full maintenance by skilled employees of Installer. Schedule regular surveillance and preventive maintenance visits at seven-day intervals for three months and at one-month intervals for nine months. Repair or replace worn or defective components; and lubricate, clean, and adjust equipment as required for proper equipment operation. Use replacement parts and maintenance supplies that were used in the manufacture and installation of the original equipment.

Operation: The operation shall be automatically controlled when the compaction chamber fills to the level where the photo sensor activates the compaction ram. The compaction ram shall continue to cycle until all refuse is cleared. When the container is full, compactor will automatically shut down and activate the full indicator light. Hydraulic System: The hydraulic system shall include a 5 HP motor, 10 gallon reservoir and directional control valve. System shall be rated for 3000-psi operation.

Electrical System: The electrical system shall include 5 HP, 1725 RPM motor, 220V, 30 amps, three phase, four wire with neutral for ground, 60 Hz. Furnished with motor starter and 115V control and logic circuit. Overload protection shall be provided. All components shall be UL listed. Photo Sensor: The compactor shall be fitted with a reliable photoelectric sensor. Wiring to control panel shall be in Sealtite plastic coated sealed conduit. Control Panel: The control panel shall be mounted remotely or on the compactor body and shall include emergency stop and 100% full light. Safety Features: Compactor door shall be fitted with captive switch not easily defeated to shut the machine down when the access door is opened.

TRASH CONTAINER, TRASH DUMPSITER, HOSE BIB WITH HOSE, TRASH CAN DRYING RACK AND WASHER, AND OTHER ACCESSORIES: A. Manufacturers standard products complying with functional requirements intended. All equipment shall be approved by the Engineer.

COLD GARBAGE ROOM WITH EVAPORATOR COIL A. Wall and Ceiling Construction: Manufacturer's standard wall and ceiling sections forming modular panels constructed of pre-painted galvanized steel internal and external sheets, 26 gage thick each, sandwiching a foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation of thickness suitable for cold garbage storage. Assemble insulated panels with concealed assemblies using the manufacturer's standard SURELOCK or equivalent fasteners. Provide panels with a PVC compression gasket prior to foaming. Floor Construction: Smooth concrete floor with hardener cast over minimum 100 mm thick rigid polystyrene insulation, separation sheet and membrane water proofing, all complying with relevant Sections of specifications. Door: Manufacturer's standard, UL approved or equivalent door and jamb, fully insulated, flush in-fitting type. Gaskets shall be neoprene, replaceable and N.S.F approved type. Hardware shall be heavy-duty plated with lever-type inside safety release. Door shall have 2 hinges, cam action, self-closing type. Door shall have electrically heated frost-stop contacts built into both doors and jambs. Lighting: UL approved or equivalent vapor-proof light with an exterior switch and pilot light. Thermometer: Dial type, vapor-tension thermometer with remote bulb and a temperature reading range suitable for cold garbage storage. Refrigeration System: Provide the manufacturer's standard leak free refrigeration system and evaporator coils suitable for cold garbage storage.

FABRICATION A. B. Fabricate garbage compactors with smooth, eased exposed edges. Fabricate bins, hoppers, chutes, compaction chambers, unit bodies, and similar components of steel plate with welded joints. Reinforce with structural-steel members sized and spaced to withstand impacts and pressures of normal operations and to prevent excessive long-term development of waves and valleys. Fabricate equipment with replaceable parts at points of normal wear.

Provide electrical devices, controls, and materials of type and quality recommended by NEMA for applications indicated. See Division 16 Sections for power characteristics and service to equipment, including disconnect switches.

PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Examine spaces to receive garbage compactors. Verify that dimensions of spaces are compatible with critical dimensions and clearance requirements of garbage compactors. Verify service rough-ins. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

INSTALLATION A. B. Set garbage compactors level, plumb, properly aligned, and securely and accurately in place. Anchor as required for secure operation. Complete field assembly with joining methods recommended in writing by manufacturer. Grind welds smooth and restore finishes.

3.3

DEMONSTRATION A. B. Startup Services: Provide startup service, equipment demonstration, and training of Owner's maintenance personnel by a factory-authorized service representative. Test and adjust compactor controls and safety features. Replace damaged or malfunctioning controls and equipment. Adjust equipment as required for safe and proper operation. Train Owner's maintenance personnel to use and maintain garbage compactors. Demonstrate capacities, safety features, cleaning procedures, and proper methods for storing and handling raw and processed waste materials. 1. 2. Review data in maintenance manuals specified in Division 1. Schedule training with Owner, through Engineer, with at least seven days' advance notice.
