EXPERIENCE
International Student Volunteers, Summer 2008
• Costa Rica - Volunteer Project protecting endangered sea turtles at Gandoca Beach
o Nightly beach patrols, monitoring nesting mothers, egg collection, nest digging, observation of
hatcheries, handle newborn turtles and release them into the sea.
• Ecuador - Reforestation project in the Alto Choco Reserve
o Harvest seeds of endangered plant species and plant in botanical gardens, monitoring botanical
gardens using organic farming techniques, transfer healthy young plants from botanical garden to
forest, behavior monitoring of endangered spectacled bear.
Environmental Stewardship Committee, September 2008 – Present
• Research, Teaching, and Public Service Subcommittee – Student Representative
• Works to complete UB’s Presidents Climate Commitment.
• Student representative acts as the liaison between students and the subcommittee for the completion of
climate neutrality in this subcommittee.

Greenman Project, Spring 2009
• Guided a unique campus environmental awareness campaign
• The campaign sent out 15 students wearing bright green body suits to represent and environmentally
conscious student, with the objective of drawing the UB student body to a presentation which creatively
displayed 5 simple ways to be environmentally friendly.
Electrical Footprint Report, April 2009
• Purpose was to research student electricity consumption. Data will be used for later information about
student environmental impact at UB. For the SSC 496 internship. Grade received: Pass
• Monitored personal electricity use at home to find daily, monthly, and yearly consumption.
• Further calculated data to find carbon footprint and cost of electricity use.
Power Shift 2009
• Attended a nationwide student conference on environmental issues.
• Lobbied Congress for bold climate legislation.
Electoral Candidate Debate, October 2008
• Organized and conducted debate of local Buffalo congressional candidates for their platforms on
environmental policy.
