With skies and faces cracking open to reveal sun and smiles, we witnessed another day of incredible insanity!
Words cannot begin to describe what we have witnessed the past few days. You came, saw and made yesterday into the single most beautiful Saturday ever. From raving in a little bunker made of bricks, dancing in a cloud of bubbles or showering in the water balloon rain, to filling up the valley with songs, cheers and laughter. From being a superhero at the Super You&Me stage, getting your kicks at Q-dance, moshing round in the pit with Yellow Claw To watching the sky break open and welcome the sun, while Sander van Doorn hit you up with another dose of epic bass. You were simply amazing. The world has never seen so much love or passion. And heres the best part of it all; theres still a day left of this heavenly weekend! So suit up. Brush off the dust on your clothes, put on sunblock and march towards the festival! Tomorrow is now. Open up your hearts and minds for another day, for another spectacle of unprecedented grandeur.

EVERY YEAR AGAIN, THE URGE TO BUILD THE BEST TOMORROWLAND EVER GROWS STRONGEST ON SUNDAY. THIS IS JUDGEMENT DAY!
This is the last day of the festival and well need to party as hard as we can to travel back home satisfied. Dave Clarke will fight to make his day the best of all three at his eponymous stage. David Guetta will perform for almost two hours, joined by Nicky Romero after fifteen minutes, in preparation for Afrojacks arrival later on. We dont need to explain why Steve Aoki has the final mainstage slot this evenening just be there. Smash the House vs Dirty Dutch is one of todays new hosts; they will destroy the crowd on the floating Garden of Madness. I Love The 90s takes you back to the old days, whereas MINUS moves toward the future. And there is much more to explore; try to experience as much of the program as you can for yourself!

Let us tell you whats about to happen. You will rise again a little slower than yesterday, perhaps, as camping life starts to take its toll. The weather hasnt been a big help for keeping your tent intact, either, but it takes more than that to stop someone like you. You know what you have to do, and thus the distance between land of dreams and land of Tomorrow is crossed. Once you step into its borders, you find yourself in thoroughly familiar territory. Where you will go next matters not, what matters is how you do it. In order for your story to be all it can

be magical, incredible, glorious you will have to dig deep. As you move from DJ to DJ, from stage to stage, you must burrow past your aching muscles and through your tired bones, on and on until you reach your soul. The soul is the place where life begins, and it is there that you will find the energy you are about to unleash. Today is the final day; today your story will end and the end is always the best part of a story. As you know, we have no way of telling exactly what tale you will write, but we implore you to make it happy. Use the energy youve found. Put

it into everything you do, shine your light upon the festival, make friends, go mad, go on. Face the end bravely, with great fury and limitless passion. Dance, laugh, and dont look back now. Truthfully, this way is the best. You will find that out later, a long time from now, reminiscing about the highlights of your life. Tomorrowland will be among them, thanks to the might with which you celebrate today. Yours is the glory.

Good Morning

We checked weather forecasts daily before leaving, so we were very well prepared. Its a little sad that we really need the raincoats, but thats why we bought pink clothing. We deal with it as positively as possible!

I left my comic book outside our tent last night, when I fell asleep around three o clock. But its ok! Our neighbors party tent was launched onto ours by the storm, giving us extra shelter.

After 9 years of aging, the secret is ready to be unveiled. The first Tomorrowland Rum, The Elixir of Life, has arrived at Tomorrowland. It has been aging in Bacardis hidden cellars, somewhere in Puerto Rico, since the first edition of our festival in 2004. Now, it is almost ready to celebrate Tomorrowlands 10th anniversary next year but some people are going to be lucky enough to taste it already. DANCING IN THE RAIN

The first showers of rain passed by Tomorrowland last Friday, but that was nothing compared to this morning. Some of you probably saw it coming: an enormous rolling cloud that looked like it would swallow Europe whole. The thing was loaded with a shocking amount of thunder, lightning and water, turning many air mattresses into boats. But of course, Dreamville wouldnt be Dreamville if its citizens hadnt mostly denied the bad weather, turning it into an occasion for fun and games instead. Thats why well show you the highs and lows the thunderstorm left us with in Boom this morning. Enjoy!

Our table disappeared this morning, I guess the wind took it but it also carried lot of new stuff into our tent, as you can see. Even though the water damaged some of our belongings, we dont complain. Party on!

Bart had a good nights rest, but the storm woke him up quite early: Not the weather weve all been hoping for! My air mattress turned into a waterbed this morning, look at it! Its disgusting.

I saw thirty gnomes standing the rafts near the bridge. I didnt hesitate for one moment. Just jump into the water and pick out the biggest! Hes a stand-in for our friend Frederik now, who went home early.

HOTSPOTS OF DREAMVILLE
While some people worked too make the most out of the rain, using it for refreshing showers or adrenaline-laden mudslide contests, others hadnt quite woken up yet and simply wanted shelter. One of their most popular spots was the round tent in front of the Gathering stage. Stewards kept an eye on it and warned people for a possible evacuation in case the weather really got as bad as the forecasts predicted, but there was no reason to panic. Good news for these two boys, who took their soaked belongings to the big round Gathering tent to dry their stuff and continue sleeping. Cute, arent they?

We wanted to look like superheroes to match our favorite area: Super You & Me. We almost immediately decided to dress up as Extreme Power Rangers Why? Look closely, and youll see our secret weapons...

This is the next level. The details, the atmosphere, the people. Its a world of fantasy that has no equal.
Three superheroes, dressed up and all, under the watchful eye of the giant butterfly. A crowd full of Wonderwomen, Spidermen and so many more legendary comic figures. It was a truly magnificent view last night. One of the artists on stage was living legend Sander van Doorn. Witness his transformation into the knight of darkness: Batman! The devil is in the details Sander says when asked what the magic of Tomorrowland is. Every stage is different. Every detail has been thought out carefully by people with passion for music. Hes more than ready to take over the Super You&Me stage. This concept, created by Laidback Luke, has gained notoriety fast. Because of the masks and the participation of the crowd, its unlike any other performance. It doesnt have to be the best music-wise. It just has to be a smashing party. The creativity you have being fairly anonymous and the energy you get from all those superheroes whore forming this community, thats almost supernatural. Its time for Sander to switch to his alter ego. Tonight hes Batman, saving the city of Tomorrow from the dark forces of boring reality.

The One That Got Away

We are together to celebrate all the great things in life and our love for the music. Speaking of love: we were wondering if you found that at the festival. A beautiful girl or a great looking guy you met, shared a moment with and lost track of, unfortunately. We took a stroll around the holy grounds of The Arising of Life to see what we could find. It didnt take much effort to find some passion amongst you all. Sitting in the shade of a tree and looking out over the water somewhere near the giant butterfly, Rebeccas the first one asked if she had a flirt with someone the past days. He had brown hair, a white t-shirt and tattoos on his arm. Some symbols if I remember correctly. He was from Belgium, somewhere an hour from here. His name? Nico I think. We were standing at one of the stages situated on the water, We Play House. We talked about stuff. Well, there wasnt that much talking to be honest. We quickly went to kissing. After a while we left (with Nico) and took a look at that little brick cave. Suddenly, Nico was no longer with us. Too bad! Up ahead, at the nearby foodcourt, Todds taking a break from the bright sun. He puts on a promising smile when we talk to him. I bumped into her while getting drinks for

me and my mates. I spilled some beer on her and she turned around to see what was happening. I apologized and offered to buy her a drink too. She had a French accent, a French flag around her neck. Blue eyes, blond hair, quite tall. It happened at the Kebab stand on the front left side of the Gathering stage. We did some things, but a true gentleman never tells! At some point I had to catch up with my friends, and when I returned she was gone. If you see her, tell her my tent is at the yellow zone on Dreamville. The one with all the Australian flags. Walking back to the TML Today headquarters, we run into a couple of girls with free or taken written on their chests. Isnt that a bit obvious? Apparently its done with a purpose. Anne-Laure explains: during the festival, weve got a little game. We have to score points by hooking up with people from all over the world, while being sober. The further the country is, the more points you get. I scored some yesterday while dancing at the mainstage. He had blue eyes, shorts, a purple shirt around his waist and blond hair. About 24 years old, he came from London (thats 2 points!). My friends dared me, and so I went for it. I heard English guys cant kiss for sh*t, I said, and he didnt hesitate for a moment to prove me wrong. We danced for a while and I lost track of him. At least Im on top of the scoreboard right now!

Last but certainly not least, we receive an e-mail from Jegor. Jegor is from Sweden and has been waiting for an opportunity like this. At Tomorrowland 2012 I met a pretty girl from Belgium. We had a great time at the mainstage. Unfortunately, we split up after Steve Aoki played. I totally forgot to ask her what her name was. The entire past year Ive regretted not asking that. So please, help me find my Belgian princess! I know its a long shot, but maybe, just maybe, shell recognize herself on the picture. Im the guy with the blue shirt hanging out of my pants. If Marie Antoinette and Willy Wonka had a love child, that would be Dominique Persoone. In the land of chocolate and gastronomy, the so-called Shock-o-latier is half rock star and half master chef. The globally respected choco-chef has cooked for international stars like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Smashing Pumpkins and The Rolling Stones and wrote The Best Chocolate Book of the World. Whats more: his mouth-watering works of art are literally sold in what looks like a museum. Persoone loves to experiment with outlandish ingredients, but also creates fine, elegant, herb-infused confectionary. With the Tomorrowland praline he shows both method and madness. Well, Dominique doesnt exactly have Oompa Loompas oh, so sad but he does have an amazing device that can actually shoot chocolate up your nose! Whats it like to cook at a festival? Its always really great fun. This is my second time cooking at a festival, and this year we have made the exclusive Tomorrowland chocolates. Now, it appeared to be a bit short notice to really come out with something huge, so we postponed that to next year. In 2014 I would really like to set up a huge statue of a chocolate naked African woman with chocolate milk gushing out of her boobs. Next year it will be 10 years of Tomorrowland, so it would be great to get in the picture with something mindblowing like that. This year, however, we made a dessert for master chef Roger van Damme and were here with our chocolate snorting machine - a machine that shoots chocolate up your nose - which we premiered alongside Dutch topchef Sergio Herman at the birthday party of the Rolling Stones some years ago.

How do people react to that chocolate-sniffingmachine? The foreign DJs went totally crazy over it! Instead of putting the chocolate on a plate, we invented some sort of catapult system that shoots the flavour into your nose. Its a mixture of mint, ginger and chocolate and when you shoot it up your brains are full of choclate! Its like a healthy kind of drug (laughs)! Are you working long hours here at the festival, or did you have some spare time to show off your dancing moves as well? The thing with chocolate is that you cant really prepare it la minute, so most of the work has been done already before the festival. Given that, Im having some time to relax, and check out the madness of the festival, although Im not really a dancer (laughs). But its an awesome experience, and its always great to see all these colleagues here. Wout Bru is here, Sergio Herman, Roger van Damme, and even the number one chef of the world, Jordi Roca. Its great to see that international gastronomy scene coming over to our small country! And its great fun to have em over to taste some of our truly fine Belgian chocolate! Known as the Shock-o-latier of Belgium, Dominique Persoone has made a name for himself throughout Europe for his singular brand of pralines and occasionally outrageous chocolate contraptions. Persoone started his culinary career by training at Bruges Ter Groene Poorte culinary academy. He discovered his love for chocolate while working under legendary chocolatiers Pierre Herm and Pascal Brunstein. A persistent innovator, Persoone pairs his chocolates with anything from tequila to chicken skins.

Well well well, How you all feeling today? Saturday was full of surprises, wasnt it, I was hanging with Slash for coolness sake, lovely fella too...! Thomas Gold got you mad mainstagers all fired up clearly and Zedd was just brilliant, he too is a lovely fella and quickly becoming one of the most popular producers on the planet. Got to send a shout out to Maxim Lany who kicked off the stage and played a short but very sweet opening set and then the young Audien played a blinder too. You really are spoilt. It seems my voice is getting strained so I am very untalkative at present...but thats a good thing for a lot of people. Please, my brothers and sisters, continue as hard as you can to stay friendly and loveable and patient with your neighbour. Trust me, as the hangover starts to take its toll, you always tend to get a bit grumpy - well I do anyway, so do as I say and not as I do. I am certainly looking forward to the space invaders today. Mr. Joachim Garraud is always a sensational performer and Im pretty sure he will knock your sandals off. Our very own V-meister will be dropping bomb after bomb so be ready. Alesso, Angello, Guetta, Afrojack, Romero, Aoki, blimey oreilly, what sickness is gonna go down I do not know, but one thing is for real: the energy and passion that these guys will bring to the main will be matched 10 times more by you guys. So give it all you got, dont stop even when you have had enough and most importantly of all stay safe. The Arising of Life goes global

Hidden somewhere on the immense festival, Tomorrowland TV is sharing the fairy tale were all part of this weekend with the entire world. A small army of dedicated men and women is working around the clock, making sure only the best qua lity footage is broadcasted on Youtube. Our ultimate goal? To make the people watching at home feel like theyre actually here with us. To let them experience the magic of Tomorrowland first-hand. Cline is running the operation, taking care of approximately 230 people. On the terrain itself weve got 9 camera crews going around. The show itself is directed by the very best directors in Belgium. Every day from 9pm to 2am, a brand new show is aired. After that reruns of the day are shown. The whole world is watching. Yesterday about 340,000 people were tuned in for about 20 minutes on average. Thats a long time, especially for Youtube! But how does Tomorrowland TV bring the mayhem, the feeling and the atmosphere at Boom to, for instance, a living room in Australia? We are not just recording sets played by DJs. Far from that! Pieter says. He is editor-in-chief and speaks with passion about this huge project. Tomorrowland TV is all about positivity, the power of nature and music, the fairy tale feeling that can be found in every aspect of the festival. From the immense stages to the simplest things like the garbage cans, everything leads back to the story of The Arising of Life. Bringing Tomorrowland to someone watching at the other side of the world in a way that does the concept justice it seems impossible to achieve. This year were focusing on the point of view people in the crowd have. Everywhere at Tomorrowland is the credo we live by these days. All over the terrain, people can be seen carrying GoPro cameras. Likewise, TMLTVs mainstage cameras are in the crowd, instead of looking out over their heads.

El QDance Stage ahora mismo con Coone !! Y que bestialidad de escenario #tomorrowland The show isnt all music and pretty images of the DJ. Every hour about 15 minutes are spent on interviews and little clips made during the day. Artists like Tisto, Steve Aoki and Afrojack paid us a visit for a little chat. Theyre all happy to share their thoughts with us. Whats the best quote so far? All of them. For example, Ferry Corsten told us he sometimes gets asked by random people while flying to his next gig what he does for a living. When he tells them hes a DJ, he sometimes gets the response Oh, just like Tisto! Another part of the broadcast is filled by items describing the atmosphere at the festival. Clips like Dancing around Tomorrowland, which shows a bearded fellow dancing at random spots on the terrain. With items like this, we dare the crowd to participate. You see people walking by, stop and start dancing themselves without even realizing theres a camera pointed at them. We provide them with a little surprise, and let them take over, Pieter states. Theyre in the moment, happy, exited, spontaneous. Thats exactly what we want to show the world. Of course, big shows like the set by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike on Friday are a major part of Tomorrowland TV. Yesterday, we were at just the right spot when Mike started a crowdwalk. It was one of the best moments we had so far. Its safe to say that Tomorrowland TV is a major part of the massive concept, bringing the madness to every city, country or continent on the planet. Telling the story in many different and equally creative ways. Showing and sharing the love for music and life. Curious? CHUCKIE LIVING FOR THE MUSIC

Its a slow Monday morning in July when Tomorrowland Today takes a seat at ID&Ts blindingly white Am sterdam offices. Were waiting for a house music legend - DJ, talent scout and promoter, all rolled into one. His name is Clyde and he soon enters the building. On his face, we spy the slightly bewildered expression of a man whos just been awake and on a plane for 12 hours. His handshake, however, is as firm as his smile is affectionate. Pleasantries are exchanged and one elevator ride later we find ourselves in a lavishly furnished room, filled with colourful couches, comfortable chairs and, most of all, the sound ofChuckies voice. DJ Chuckie, it turns out, is a talker. He only needs a little nudge to start telling his stories, reciting adventures and defending his viewpoints with a kind of strength only found in men with a mission. It is a friendly mission, though. Clyde Narain loves to make friends and lift people up, and does so by partying. So we start off our conversation with a festive matter: his anniversary, which was shortly before we met. Lets begin with your birthday. Did you honour it properly? In the US, tradition holds that you should celebrate your birthday for a whole week. So I went to Las Vegas on Monday and make no mistake, Vegas goes off every day of the week. People from all over the world go there with one mindset: to party. Anyway, I played a four hour set with Gregori Klosman. Then on Saturday I took a plane to Miami, where I have a residency, and did it all over again. The thing is, EDM is so booming in America right now, the sky is the limit. I have Dirty Dutch residencies in Miami, Vegas and New York, and whether its my birthday or not, the venues are always packed. I find it amusing that dance music was born in the US, grew large in Europe, and then went back home big time. Just a second what about pre sents? Did you get any? The best present was obviously a room full of raving people. But in America, they do things big. I also got huge bottles of champagne and enormous birthday cakes. We shared those with the crowd, there was no way Id be able to take them with me. Within two minutes, weve gone from talking about Chuckies birthday to the history of dance and back again. It goes to show how fast his mind moves and move fast it has to, the way he flies from Vegas to Miami to Amsterdam to Ibiza, managing to play gigs, produce records, and manage a label in between. Indeed, without further prompting, our friendly DJ moves on to tell the tale of his US success. The American lust for extravagancy has always been positively bizarre to me. The first time I celebrated my birthday there was around the time I started doing a residency as well, about 3 years ago. The only time Clyde stops to think is when he needs to remember a date in the past. While the club that was about to host me was still under construction, its owner called up and said he wanted a monthly EDM residency from me. Back then, even Vegas was dominated by open-format and hiphop events. We wanted to be the first all-electronic club, called the Marquee, and it worked out perfectly.

But why did he choose you, and not someone else, to introduce a whole new style? He took a liking to the Dirty Dutch platform, which we had built up in Holland to be more than just a party. It had been my wish to break into the major American cities for quite some time, and his ideas lined up perfectly with mine. The rest is history. Past spring, our interviewee rocked the world of house with a collab and several performances featuring Slash, curly-haired, top-hatted hero of rock. As not every Tomorrowland visitor will be aware, Slash has been an open-minded and diverse musician from the get-go. He became famous with Guns n Roses, expanded his horizons with Velvet Revolver and has been involved in all kinds of projects in between. Never before, however, has he ventured into electronics. And so we ask Chuckie: how is it that you, seemingly unconnected to the world of rock, got to know one of its great est legends? As large as Los Angeles may seem to be, once you move into its inner circles, it becomes a very interconnected affair. I got acquainted with Slashs wife and she brought him to one of my shows. Hed never seen such a madhouse, never experienced the music, but loved its energetic atmosphere. We remained friends I even spent Christmas Eve at his house one year and after much planning, trying to adjust our schedules, we managed to join up in an LA studio and laid down some jams. BetatraXx was there too. I had planned to have Slash play just an intro, but we rode the waves of inspiration and out came a proper collaboration, called Rocktronica. Apparently, the sound of his guitar could be heard all over Atlantic Studios and bothered quite a few people. Thats how piercing those frequencies are. Some time during which a couple of ID&T employees drop by, all of whom Clyde, amicable as he is, seems to know personally later, we come to talk of his own Smash the House vs. Dirty Dutch stage. So what do you have planned on Sunday? Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have been friends of mine for years, and I love to see how they too have managed to build themselves an international career. Together, we assembled a line-up that is great in my eyes. One of my favourites is Kaskade. He isnt that well-known in Europe, but hes Americas number one DJ, routinely selling out rooms for ten thousand people. Its an honour to have him, as we have done a tour together before. I also think it is badass that we are featuring Showtek. Ive seen this coming for years in fact, I distinctly remember a conversation with Headhunterz, six years

ago, telling him: if you take hardstyle to a lower BPM, keep the kicks, but turn down the tempo, youll end up with a really rowdy sound. I have since dabbled in that kind of music myself, but Showtek has become very successful with it. In my opinion, they are world-class musicians and deserve global fame. In talking about the rest of his artists, Chuckie demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of the international dance scene normally reserved for journalists and managers. He casually discusses which DJ is on whose label, the countries in which various genres are popular and new musical developments which are poised to gain worldwide traction. We try to nudge the knack to knowing all this out of him. What makes or breaks a track to you, how do you select your music? Theres a time and place for every record. I prepare extensively and adjust my track selection to the gig I might play the same song I close my club sets with as warm-up at a festival. That way, I keep it interesting. I like to be up to date on line-ups and go to shows very early, so that I can make sure to play something different than the rest. For a big festival, it takes me two to three weeks to get ready. Small wonder he knows so much about music, then. When talking to an orator like Chuckie, time flies by (it is fun, after all). Before we know it, its time to wrap up. Be honest now have you ever had the privi lege of spending a festival weekend in your own sweaty tent, as a visitor? No, not really. The last time I went to a festival as a visitor I went to Defqon.1 in Almere, before it was a weekender. But I have quite often played unofficial camping afterparties, which are almost like staying there. And I absolutely love them. And what about Tomorrowland? To me, its always exciting to return to The Netherlands and Belgium. I try to take in as much as I can, visiting some club nights in between the festivals too. Theres still so much musical innovation going on here. We ask Chuckie for a final quote; a reason why you, dear readers, should flock to his stage. Right when hes about to answer, Duncan Stutterheim, ID&Ts originator, walks into the room. Of course, our superstar DJ is acquainted with him, too Duncan, give me a reason why people should visit the Dirty Dutch stage at Tomorrowland! And so we end this interview with a joint statement from Clyde & Duncan: because it always goes off!

Yesterday at the mainstage, Slash and his ever-sharp guitar joined forces with Chuckie once again. Tomorrowland was given a chance to witness the synthesis of rock and electronica both artists are so enthusiastic about. Were you there to see it?

...Chuckie still listens to every single demo people send him? I am a music lover, so even though it is an insane amount of work, I like to do it myself. I download everything, fling it into a folder, and as soon as I have time on long flights, mostly I go through it all. ...Chuckie shuts out everyone during the final moments before a gig? Especially at festivals, there is so much going on, everyone wants to talk to me. I normally like that, but in the half hour before I go on, you can usually find me in the quietest corner of the backstage, listening to some tunes, browsing on my phone. Thats my little ritual. ...Chuckies international career was kickstarted by David Guetta? Five years ago, I was booked to warm up for Guetta. He thought my style was fresh and promptly booked me my first gigs in Ibiza. Later, he even based his One Love album partially upon the Dirty Dutch sound. To me, to receive that opportunity felt so great that I decided to pay it forward. These days, I use the Dirty Dutch platform to promote new talent.

Dubbed USAs #1 DJ by both DJ Times and Pioneer DJ, Kaskade is on the frontline of the American EDM boom. A couple of his songs have limpingly made it across the pond, but Europe is still largely unaware of his skills. We had a lightning-quick chat with him about what lies in store. Youre one of the USAs biggest electronic artists, but the European public does not know you that well yet.By means of introduction,how would you describe your own sound? I am a songwriter and a producer so much of my music is lyric- and melody based. I make everything from chill deep house to big room euphoric monsters that slay festival audiences. But most importantly I like to connect with people through music whatever the genre might be. And what do you consider your biggest achievements? This fall my 8th studio album, Atmosphere, will be released and I am really proud of the catalog of music that I have written over the years. I have not had to compromise my sound to find popularity; rather people have discovered me through my music. On the other hand,Tomorrowland, for all its international fame, is still a European festival. Out of everything youve heard about it, what are you most looking forward to? I look forward to the massive crowd and the incredible production. This festival is famous for all the care that they out to create a unique experience and it really shows by how amazing it looks. Youre playing at the Smash the House vs. Dirty Dutch stage andChuckie, in his interview (see page 26), speaks very highly of you. How did you get to know him? I curated a traveling festival a few years ago in the US. I asked Chuckie to be a part of it after having him as a guest at my legendary Las Vegas residency. His energy on stage is amazing and truly infectious, I love having him around! Not only is he an incredible talent but he is a lot of fun to travel around the country with. What have you got planned for your performance here? What should the crowd expect from you? My festival sets are my music melded together with what is currently happening that I find interesting. You will be immersed in the familiar and unfamiliar while losing your mind to something that you think you might know. Sonic euphoria that will heal your soul. After Tomorrowland, what can the rest of Europe expect? Do you have any plans to conquer the continent? As this music becomes more popular in the US and Europeans look to different places to find new music I think that people will naturally discover my sound. Or at least I am hoping so! Now lets talk music for a bit.The album you spoke of before, Atmosphere, is set to be released in September. Can you tell us a bit more about it? I wrote the majority of the record right after finishing a 50 city arena tour of North America. So much of the record was me discovering sounds that are outside of that realm. After returning from tour I was ready to try something different and that is obvious on the record once you hear it. Over the years, you have also collaborated with many different artists. Who are your dream partners producers you would love to work with? A lot of solo work and a few collabs with some friends. Nobody of note. I feel that electronic music is reaching unnaturally into the pop and urban realms to try and strike while its hot but I am consciously steering clear of this. I dont feel that house music has to stand on the shoulders of pop stars in order to make waves. While making music, from where do you draw your inspiration, both musically and otherwise? I like to write about experiences that I am currently going through or trials that I went through in the past. I like to tell stories through music so most of my lyrics come from simple life experiences. Now, to wrap up: is there anything else you would like to tell the denizens ofTomorrowland?A little fairy tale, perhaps? You never know who is waiting for you, you never know when love is coming your way...

Since 1998, MINUS has been the home base and canvas for Richie Hawtin and a small family of likeminded artists, producers and DJs hailing from the Americas and Europe. Hawtins Plastikman and Concept projects established the label at the start while inspiring a new generation of producers to join his side, creating one of the most close-knit collectives in electronic music today.

The musical and live experience of the MINUS sound is a varied and unique mix of minimal techno, heralding influences from the past with a strong sonic focus on the future, always integrating technology. David Guetta, Afrojack and Nicky Romero will perform together to end Tomorrowland with a bang. Theyve all played here individually before, but their combined impact on the crowd will likely exceed even those monumental moments. David Guetta joined us last week to share his thoughts on the project. Youve already worked with Nicky Romero on the track Metropolis. Could you tell us something more about the new label you started to feature that track? The Jack Back Records label that I have started isnt a business, its just an electronic label. Ive been proposed the idea of starting my own label many times over the years by every major company on the planet almost but thats not what I wanted to do. This is just for fun, its not for making money. Im not going to make one Euro out of it. The idea is to release electronic beats and no thing that can go to radio or sell lots of records. Its for Beatport only. I love making records that cross over but Im going backwards with this label. Everything has become so big with electronic music that I think its time for me to do some smaller projects. Youre playing Tomorrowland this weekend. Do you still get nervous about those kinds of gigs? Listen, Im nervous, but Im really excited too. We - Afrojack, Nicky Romero and me are very close to doing this and were going to have a really big, big surprise for people. So Will you be showcasing any new material? Im producing a lot at the moment. And I have a lot of new pieces that I want to try this weekend. Between Jack Back and other labels, it must be difficult dividing your production time between music for the charts and music thats just for the clubs. Im always standing in the middle a little bit so it sometimes makes my career a little difficult, but also exciting. I always refuse to be in a box - I just love music. I can enjoy making dark, interesting electro beats and also melodic house songs. For me its not a problem, its just beautiful music. Youve worked with loads of big names already. Is there anybody left on your wish list? One of my favourite records Ive ever made is Titanium. Sia was not necessarily the most famous artist on my album, but at the moment whats really exciting for me is to find really talented people who are not necessarily the most famous. Of course Im happy to work with really big stars - its a huge honour for me - but Im also happy to discover new people and I think thats going to be a big challenge in the next few years. Theres a lot of dance-pop with guest rappers in the charts imitating your sound these days, and a lot of people are complaining its become samey. Firstly, Im never annoyed by people being inspired by me because its an honour and Ive been inspired by other people too, so Ive no problem with that. The only thing I can do in response is try to reinvent myself. In the same way that kind of urban-dance sound that was always typical for me became so standard on the radio, I reinvented myself by doing Titanium which I think is totally different from anything else. My music isnt all the same. Its also the role of a DJ to give people a good time but also to also take them somewhere unexpected.

Benga

Already in his fifteenth year of making music, Benga made his first track on Fruity Loops at the age of 9 before taking up DJing at 11 years old. Three years later he wandered into Croydons eponymous Big Apple record shop with his rude boy mates and announced, I can DJ better than him. The him was Hatcha, who, alongside Artwork and DMZ are widely credited with the conception of the dubstep genre. Artwork and Hatcha were amused; they gave the cocky teenager a shot at spinning in the shop, and seeing his prodigious talents, signed him on the spot to Big Apple Records. Benga Beats: Volume 1 and Newstep established him as a serious soundscaper, though it was 2008s Night, with Coki, that became one of dubsteps definitive anthems. In 2010, alongside Artwork and Skream, Benga formed Magnetic Man, the formation that became massively popular. Now, hes back on the solo road again with his latest album, Chapter II.

Godfather, Pioneer, Creator, Legend there are many names and titles that are connected to and describe this man. One thing is for certain though (and thats what all great producers of the first hour agree on): Marc Acardipane is the first person responsible for breathing life into the hardcore techno sound. The man behind PCP stepped onto the scene 17 years ago under the monumental moniker of Mescalinum United and covered new, absolutely uncharted territory with We Have Arrived. Since then the German - whose name stems from his Italian grandfather has released approximately 350 recordings under his name, which makes him the undisputed record holder in this scene. A reminder: classics such as Stereo Murder, I Like It Loud, Atmos-Fear, 9 Is A Classic, Six Million Ways To Die, Pitchhiker, Slaves To The Rave and Return To Zero are all his. Marc still commands great loyalty in the early hardcore scene and is always sure to draw a crowd!

But you play shows all the time; what makes it scary? Oh, well you know, its Tomorrowland! There are a few places that youre always nervous to play, like Ibiza, London, Paris - because its my hometown - and New York. Its mostly because I have lots of friends that are coming to those shows. When I play here I always remember going to the Black Market in Brussels and buying my records because I couldnt find that kind of music in France.
