Awan sports was established in 1982 as a trading company that exported soccer balls, volleyballs and other sports goods from Sialkot, Pakistan. Sialkot was a traditionally a city known for quality of craftsmanship in its small cottage industry based economy. Today the cottage industries have given way to large scale manufacturing units and the city has become the largest sports goods manufacturing hub of Pakistan. One of the problems that the company encountered in the early stages was the quality of the goods from manufacturers was inconsistent and delivery was frequently delayed. The need to integrate the manufacturing operations into the existing business was felt and thus, a backward vertical integration into manufacturing was planned. The company wanted to produce the high quality goods that were not previously produced previously in Pakistan. The first manufacturing unit was completed in 1986.this facility was equipped to produce butyl bladders, rubber molded basketballs, American footballs, hand sewn soccer balls and other related products. As the competitive nature of sports increased athletes demand products that would enhance their performance, AWAN SPORTS endeavored to produce structured composite products. Such sporting goods allow athletes to optimize their performance by outperforming traditional products. The development and fabrication of composite sports products took place in the second facility, which was completed in 1992. The company thrives on innovation and is constantly striving to develop products that optimize performance through design, structure and construction. Through close developmental relationship with the suppliers and concurrent engineering of diverse departments the company boasts a plethora of some of the most unique and highest performance product in the market today. One of the company's biggest achievements has been the development of the first approved field of hockey stick using composite carbon/glass fiber material. AWAN SPORTS has sought to capitalize on its technical knowledge and experience with composite materials by introducing a entire composites product range.
