W. George Ackley, Senior Warden Greetings From The West, I wanted to personally thank some of the more experienced brothers for attending past business and ritual meetings, as well as stated communications. With the lodge having so many new faces, I would like to encourage brethren that have not attended lodge for many years to come back and visit us once in a while. I believe that your simple visit may help leave a strong impression on several of our newly made brothers as well as making a big impression on the lodge in general for that night. I believe that you take out of what you give. This simple saying reflects on the premise that those that give back to the brotherhood and lodge receive much more. A brother can give back to lodge in many ways from showing up occasionally to meetings and rituals, to helping with lodge functions, to mentoring a newly raised brothers. Always remember that a brother in the past once helped you along your journey. As we continue, the lodge will again become very busy with degree work and other activities, so again please stop by and join us for fellowship and further light. I can assure you we will make you most comfortable and feel welcome. If there is any brother interested in learning a chair for a possible position next year then contact me for more information.

Michael Lesser, Junior Warden

Greetings From The South, Brothers All The previous 6 months have challenged the length and breadth of my culinary skills as your Junior Warden. Dont worry I have plenty of ideas before we get to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. For the visit by the District Deputy Grand Master in August the menu will be a surprise. Come ready to eat, fellowship, and enjoy the messages from the Grand Lodge. Our new brothers have shown an enthusiasm to get involved. If you need to be recharged come and sit by them at our next meeting. Would you like to have a meal where each brother brings their own steak and have it cooked on the grill with all the fixins? If anyone has a favorite meal they would like please share your ideas.

FROM THE DIGEST R.W. Robby Stokes, 11th P.D.D.G.M.

How do you know which lodge you are supposed to join? Which lodge has Jurisdiction? Well the answer is in Chapter 18 of the digest. It further spells out elsewhere to notify all the lodges in the Jacksonville area about petitions so that proper investigations can be done, and to claim jurisdiction over the petition. 18.01 A Lodge has jurisdiction over the territory surrounding the Lodge and extending in every direction one-half the distance to the nearest Lodge. A Lodge having concurrent jurisdiction with other Lodges shall notify such other Lodges of reception of petitions for the Degrees and for affiliations and of acceptance or rejection of such petitions.

18.02 For purposes of receiving petitions for the Degrees, Lodges have concurrent jurisdiction as follows: (a) All Lodges meeting in the same building or Temple,

(b) All Lodges in the same city, town or other incorporated area, and (c) All Lodges in the same Masonic District.

18.03

Digest of Masonic Law

Chap. 18

18.03 Any two or more Lodges with contiguous territories, without regard to boundaries of Masonic districts or of cities, towns or other incorporated areas, may enter into agreement for concurrent jurisdiction for reception of petitions for the Degrees, which agreement shall be in writing approved by adoption of appropriate Resolution at a stated Communication of each Lodge by majority vote of members present and voting, and shall be effective upon approval by the Grand Master. Such agreement shall not be construed to impair, restrict or limit the concurrent jurisdiction of a participating Lodge having concurrent jurisdiction with other Lodges under provisions of Regulation 18.02 nor shall such agreement be construed to enlarge the jurisdiction of Lodges not participating in such agreement. Rulings and Decisions City of Jacksonville is incorporated area embracing all territory of Duval County and all Lodges therein have concurrent jurisdiction. (1972 Proc. 52, 258).
