    Block Facebook Service Accessed by the users via Web Content Filter / URL Content Filter

    There are two ways to block the facebook service, Web Content Filter and URL Content Filter. Web Content Filter, Benefits: Easily and quickly implement the category/website that you want to block. Note: License is required. URL Content Filter, Benefits: Free, flexible for customize webpage. Note: Manual setting (e.g., one keyword for one website.)

    I. Via Web Content Filter


    1. Make sure the Web Content Filter (powered by Commtouch) license is valid.

Open CSM >> Web Content Filter Profile to create a WCF profile. Check Social Networking with Action, Block.

    Enable this profile in Firewall>>General Setup>>Default Rule.

    Next time when someone accesses facebook via this router, the web page would be blocked and the following message would be displayed instead.

    II. Via URL Content Filter

    CSM without object-based settings, take Vigor2950 as an example. Open CSM>>URL Content Filter Profile. In the field of Keyword, please type facebook. Check ACT. After configuring, save the profile.

    1. Open Object Settings>>Keyword Object. In the field of Contents, please type facebook. Configure the settings as the following figure.

    2. Open CSM>>URL Content Filter Profile. Configure the settings as the following figure.

    3. When you finished the above steps, please open Firewall>>General Setup. Choose the profile just configured from the drop down list in the field of URL Content Filter. Now, users cannot open any web page with the word facebook inside.

    B. Disallow users to play games on Facebook 1. CSM without object-based settings, take Vigor2950 as an example. Open CSM>>URL Content Filter Profile. In the field of Keyword, please type fapps.facebook. Check ACT. After configuring, save the profile.

    Note: Official version v3.2.4 of Vigor 2910/Vigor2930 (v3.2.6 of Vigor2950) supports the keyword setting to block it.

    2. Sharing: facebook.com/ajax/updatestatus
    Note: Official version v3.2.4 of Vigor 2910/Vigor2930 (v3.2.6 of Vigor2950) supports the keyword setting to block it.

    3. Chatting: facebook.com/ajax/chat
    Note: Official version v3.2.4 of Vigor 2910/Vigor2930 (v3.2.6 of Vigor2950) supports the keyword setting to block it.
