LAURA BOARD MEETING

JUNE 03, 2013 @ 12:30 P.M. LIMA ELKS CLUB LIMA, OHIO

1. The following members were in attendance: Bob Prater, Mike and Peggy Krick, Dianna Baughman, Amber Horner, and Tom Bowman. 2. This was the first meeting at the Elks Club for the board. 3. Mike Krick showed photos of his most recent sighting which showed several "Orb"- shaped objects. The center white orb was showing streaming down the photo while being surrounded by colored orbs both red, blue etc. off to either side. The white orb was shown several times in complete circular form in the long stream of white light. The color orbs had streams also but much less pronounced. Bob took a copy of the smaller photo to see if he can reproduce it for the May/June Newsletter. 4. Pres. Bob announced the program for June will be a video titled "Sirius Disclosure" by Stephen Greer. It is a 2013 disclosure documentary. 5. Tom announced David Crawford from Wright Patterson AFB will be our guest speaker in July. David has served his time in the air force since graduating from Lima Sr. High in 1975 and has served time at "Dreamland" (Area-51), among other locations of interest. 6. It was announced that Mike Altenberger was attending a graduation in Cincinnati today. Party on for us Mike.

7. Tom announced that Helena had advised him she had additional nose surgery and was unable to attend. 8. Dianna announced she now has her home up for sale and the realtor has held some open houses. Good luck to you Dianna. 9. Meeting adjourned at 1:30pm and all agreed that the Elks would be a good location to hold our board meetings. 10. A treasurers report was not requested. LAURA ON TV: Tom Bowman (LAURA secretary) has been invited to be on local TV station WLIO once each month, beginning in March to discuss UFO's with newscaster Jeff Gunter. The program may air on a different Monday each month however it will be during the noon news hour, usually around 12:30pm. MAY 15, 2013:

1. Pres Bob did his Good Humor Music Quizzed from a former TV program opening theme song. Who knows what series this was? One person knew the answer; it was "Time Tunnel", episode #1, starring Lee Meriwether and Michael Rennie (who starred as KLATU in the 1951 movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still"). Following was a brief video of the first episode originally aired on Sept 9th, 1966. 2. The 2013 MUFON SYMPOSIUM will be held in Las Vegas on July 18 - 24. Contact www.MUFONsymposium.com for details. 3. Member Mike Krick said he had recently seen a cylinder shaped object with a black band. 4. Marcia Prater brought in a Chinese lantern and how it might be mistaken as a UFO when in flight.

It was announced the Board Meeting would moved to the Lima Elks Club beginning in June. 6 The program for May 15th was the "Philadelphia Experiment about the USS Eldridge, a naval destroyer allegedly made invisible in 1943 and teleported from Philadelphia to Norfolk, Virginia Naval Station some 200 miles away. UFO photographed in Netherlands Image Credit: YouTube/UFOvni2012 An Unidentified Flying Object accidently photographed last month above the skies of Muiderslot Castle, a medieval monument built in 1285 near Amsterdam in the Netherlands, set the internet abuzz this week. After much speculation on the authenticity of the pictures, experts now suggest that though the video is not fake or doctored, there is perhaps an explanation to what can be seen in the picture. The picture in question was clicked on 25 May by Corinne Federer who was visiting the historic building with her mother. Federer wrote in her blog that she was shooting the picture on High Dynamic Range when she came across the bizarre object. "I was shooting with a very wide angle lens Nikon 14-24 which can capture quite a large scene. It was shot with a Nikon D800 with is a 36mp camera so also very detailed when blown up. I was also shooting HDR which means I was taking multiple exposures at once. In this case it was 5 exposures," 43-year-old Federer, wrote on her blog site. Speaking further about what she saw, Federer told Huffington Post: "It was a tubular-shaped object that had an S-shaped fin on it. If it had been any type of missile, it would've had multiple fins, but facing the same direction. We heard nothing, it was completely quiet out. The more I flipped through the frames, it was kind of creepy."

I looked at the image information -- at the shutter speed -- and (the object) was blurred at 1/250th of a second, so it had to be going superfast, she added. Once Fedrer got back home, she adjusted the picture to boost the blacks and shadows so as to further clarify the mystery object. When experts were questioned by Huffington Post regarding the video, it was confirmed that the pictures have not been tampered with. "Having reviewed the raw files, there's no overt indication that the photos have been manipulated with post editing software," Ben Hansen, the lead host of Syfy Channel's "Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files," told Huffington Post. When asked what he thought of the object seen in the image, Hansen said it is perhaps an insect that we are looking at. We typically see many wing protrusions on insect rod cases, but they do come in the single pair variety, too. It all depends on the shutter speeds and motion of the insects." In fact, Hansen pointed out that in one of the images, on the right side of the sun, a disc-shaped object can be seen. "I found another object. To the right of the sun, we see a slender, almost disk-shaped object that appears to have no protrusions. Hmmm," he said. "When I look at the amazing photography which captures the night sky in long exposures, and you can see how many stars are out there, I think there's absolutely no way that we're alone, he added.

Which Came First, the Chicken or the Egg?

Watching an episode of the 1966 Time Tunnel tv-series made me think. In the opening sequence a senator arrives by private jet to a small, desolate airport in the Nevada desert. He is picked up by a large car and they drive for a while to an undisclosed location. A man in a suit riding with the senator gets on the mobile phone and calls Tic-Toc base asking permission to enter. Soon a secret hidden door opens and the car drives down the ramp to an underground military base where the time tunnel is hidden from the world. A vaguely similar story Bob Lazar circulated in the late 80s and early 90s was that he worked as a physicist at Area 51s S-4, also at a secret underground military base in the Nevada desert.

Lazar alleges that the S4 facility is located near the Papoose Range within Nevada's Nellis Air Force Test Range, and is accessed via a dirt road. The details that Lazar provided regarding S4 are very non-specific, with Lazar having stated that he was transported in a blacked-out bus to the site which did not allow him to see the landscape. Lazar claims that the S4 base proper contains nine aircraft hangars built into the side of the mountain range, with hangar doors constructed on an angle matching the slope of a mountain. The doors to the hangars are camouflaged with natural material to blend in with the side of the mountain and the adjoining desert floor. He claims the site is protected from all view, being located within a valley. Inside these hangars are, according to Lazar, the laboratories and scientists studying extraterrestrial spacecraft. Did Lazar, or others claiming to have worked in secret underground bases merely fabricate a story using bits and pieces of the science-fiction TV shows that they grew up with or, were these individuals telling the truth? Could have it have been that the producers of the Time Tunnel (or other shows of the era) took the personal accounts of former military personnel and incorporated these themes into the science(fiction) series of this era of television?
