(6 marks) You are advised to spend 20 minutes on this question. During the holidays, my parents took us to the zoo. We had a great time there. There was one incident at the zoo, though, that I would never forget. We were in front of the monkey cages. Suddenly, one of the monkeys came forward and put out its hand before us. There were other people nearby, including a young couple with their little daughter aged about eight. The little girl looked at the signboard that reminded visitors not to feed the animals. Then she asked her mother, Mama, the poor monkeys look so hungry. Why cant we feed them?

The mother explained that giving the wrong food to the animals could make them sick. Just then, some teenagers stopped in front of the cage. They started throwing potato chips and other snacks at the monkeys, who picked them up and ate them. Seeing this, the rest of us started commenting about their irresponsible behaviour. However, no one tried to stop them. Then, much to my surprise and admiration, the little girl spoke up. Hey! Cant you read? It says Do Not Feed the Animals. Do you want the monkeys to get sick? she yelled. The teenagers were so embarrassed by her outburst that they at once stopped what they were doing and walked away. It was truly amazing that while none of the adults wanted to get involved, the little girl was bold enough to speak up. 15. Very angry with the zoo authorities. B. Irritated with the little girls behaviour. C. Embarrassed that he had not spoken up. D. Pleased that the monkeys had not got sick.
