Photocopiable masters
A photocopiable worksheet is available for each book in this series. These enable you to ensure that the children have grasped key ideas from the books. The children will need to have access to the books in order to complete the worksheets. Use the worksheets in a guided reading session, for topic-based group work or even for homework
Children should identify the pictures used in the book and discuss similarities and differences. Encourage them to use information in the book, as well as their own experiences to decide which information to include on their posters. Remind them to use bright colours and large lettering so their posters can be easily seen and read.
Children should use the contents and index to find the relevant topics in the book. Encourage them to shut the book and reword the information rather than copying from the book.
Before starting to find information in the book, talk about what the children remember. Children should use the contents and index to find the relevant topics in the book.
Look at the pictures. What do children remember about each stage? All of the information needed is in the book. Encourage children to use captions, fact buttons and pictures as well as main text.
