Winners announced at 2013 Royal Melbourne Poultry Show


The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria is proud to announce a Large Old English Game Black Red Male exhibited by Alan and Judy Lawrence of Berrigan, New South Wales, as Supreme Champion In Show at the inaugural 2013 Royal Melbourne Poultry Show. The Reserve Supreme Champion In Show was awarded to a Pekin Bantam Male exhibited by Phil Pickles of Junortoun, Victoria. The prestigious Supreme Champion In Show is in memory of Mr G.J. Sheppard, who was highly respected in the poultry community and a long-time RASV exhibitor and committee chair. Held over the Queens Birthda y long weekend from Saturday, 8 to Sunday, 9 June at Melbourne Showgrounds, more than 1,600 birds from 110 exhibitors were on show, a 68 per cent increase on last years competition entries. The Royal Melbourne Poultry Show showcases the finest poultry and awards excellence. The Royal Melbourne Poultry Show was presided over by a panel of industry experts, including Mr Ian Selby of New Zealand who judged Specials, Juniors and Eggs. RASV CEO, Mark OSullivan said, On behalf of the RASV, I would like to congratulate Alan and Judy Lawrence on winning Supreme Champion In Show at the 2013 Royal Melbourne Poultry Show. Poultry fanciers have responded positively to the new format of the Royal Melbourne Poultry Show, said Mr OSullivan. More than 100 breeds of poultry, including bantams, ducks, geese, guinea fowl and turkeys, were judged across 1,000 classes. The 2013 Royal Melbourne Poultry Show is presented by the RASV with the support of the Victorian Waterfowl Association, Victorian Poultry and Kennel Club and The Game Club of Victoria.
