The Oceania Judo Union 2009 OJU WORLD CUP and Training Camp will be
held for the first time in Apia, Samoa, in the South Pacific Ocean.
**An IJF World Ranking List Points Tournament**
The Tournament runs November 13th to 14th 2009, followed by the three days Training Camp
with Guest Coach Juergen Klinger and then by the OJU President’s Cup team competition.
Individuals and teams from Member Federations affiliated to the International Judo Federation
are cordially invited to participate. All information and entry details are available on the OJU
Website.
We look forward to hosting our Judo friends from around the world for the first time in Samoa ‐
The Treasured Islands of the South Pacific ‐ and promise to deliver a World Cup that will be unique
and unforgettable.

Introducing Samoa
Samoa is a postcard of natural beauty consisting of ten tropical islands with blue lagoons, waterfalls,
sparkling white sand beaches, and a polynesian cultural heritage that is alive and vibrant. Situated on
the north coast of Upolu Island, Apia, the capital town of Samoa and the venue for the 2009 OJU World
Cup is a quaint and busy town with all the amenities of a city. The Faleata Sports Complex Gymnasium
II, the official venue for the World Cup, can be reached through Faleolo International Airport which is
served by international airlines; Air New Zealand, Polynesian Airlines, Polynesian Blue of Virgin Blue and
Air Pacific.
Samoa has direct flights from Los Angeles, USA with Air New
Zealand. Samoa is also serviced by daily flights with Polynesian
Blue and Air New Zealand from Australia, New Zealand and twice
weekly flights from Fiji Islands with Air Pacific.
Travel information regarding airlines and routes will be provided
on the OJU website and assistance with airline schedules and
bookings may be obtained from the Event Organisers
Polynesian Xplorer Ltd.
Accommodation in the Apia surroundings is close to the venue
with no one accommodation more than 10 minutes away. All
accommodation recommended by the event organiser have
excellent facilities that will cater for all participants ranging from
the top end to budget depending on the team’s or individual’s
budgets.

Competition system: The events will be organized in accordance with the rules of the
International Judo Federation
Day 1 Events: Men +100 K, -100K, -90K, -81K Women -57K, -52K, -48K
Day 2 Events: Men -73K, -66K, -60K Women +78K, -78K, -70K, -63K
Referees: IJF International or Continental Referees are invited to attend.
Insurance: All participants must take responsibility for organising their own insurance
Doping Control: Will be carried out in accordance with the regulations of the OJU and IJF
Referee Examination: The OJU WORLD CUP will be used as the venue for examinations for IJF
International and IJF Continental licence.

Accreditation: Delegations requested to send complete details with photo. Accreditation
will be issued on arrival. Sewing of back patches will be done by schedule.
Validation: Entries must be approved by the President or Secretary of a member
federation of the International Judo Federation
VISA: There are no entry visas required for Samoa. Participants should check
their own requirements for transit visas en route.
