Balaruc, a green town Experience a green environment and healthy breathing Out of the scorching sun, take refuge in Balaruc green spaces. Balaruc is a spa town that also knows how to protect its environment; it has allotted a great part of its urban area to green spaces planted with flowers, trees, shrubberies. Balaruc-les-Bains is definitely a green town. Its 60 gardens display 40 000 flowery plants, with hidden marvels like Erythrina, Araucaria Juss and Sophoras from Japan to be found in squares and parks. The botanical route will take you around the gardens and explain all p5 different species. The walk round the peninsula : this path allows you to explore the Etang de Thau and the villages on its shores on foot or on a bike. A wall in trompe-loeil style invites you to take a pause with the painter Lolo and Georges Brassens. Source de la Vise : is a freshwater underwater spring at 20C easily visible as a wide halo on the surface of the water. Pavillon Svign and Square Bordes : The Pavillon Svign houses the tourist information centre. It was once the 1st building for the thermal baths in Balaruc-les-Bains. Its beautiful arches that surround a pool of thermal water were created along with the Svign Park in 1833. Square Bordes : A leafy setting with benches, childrens games, cool shades a place to relax Panoramic viewpoint over the Etang de Thau : overlooking the marina of Balaruc-les-Bains, this spot offers an unrestricted view over the entire tang. A viewpoint indicator will help you locate the hill of Ste, the oyster beds and every town round Etang de Thau.

WALKS ROUND BALARUC

Etang de Thau is a different world, colourful and lively. This postcard setting provides shelter for an extraordinary biodiversity. This small inner sea teems with sea basses, sea breams and eels. This lagoon is also an oyster and shellfish farm. Oyster beds extend as far as the eye can see, like small well-kept gardens, on the surface of the water.
