Egli (la Parola) era nel principio con Dio.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

Tutte le cose sono state fatte per mezzo di lui (la Parola), e senza di lui nessuna delle cose fatte stata fatta.

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

In lui era la vita e la vita era la luce degli uomini.

In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

La luce splende nelle tenebre, e le tenebre non lhanno sopraffatta.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Vi fu un uomo mandato da Dio, il cui nome era Giovanni. Questi venne come testimone per rendere testimonianza alla luce, affinch tutti credessero per mezzo di lui. Egli non era la luce, ma fu mandato per rendere testimonianza della luce. There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

La vera luce che illumina ogni uomo stava venendo nel mondo.

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.

Egli era nel mondo, e il mondo fu fatto per mezzo di lui, ma il mondo non lha conosciuto.

He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

Egli venuto in casa sua, e i suoi non lo hanno ricevuto.

He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.

Ma a tutti quelli che lhanno ricevuto egli ha dato il diritto di diventare figli di Dio, a quelli cio che credono nel suo nome, i quali non sono nati da sangue, n da volont di carne, n da volont duomo, ma sono nati da Dio.
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision, but born of God.

E la Parola si fatta carne ed ha abitato fra di noi, e noi abbiamo contemplato la sua gloria, come gloria dell'unigenito proceduto dal Padre, piena di grazia e di verit.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
