Antes de que todo comenzara ya exista aquel que es la Palabra. La Palabra estaba con Dios, y la Palabra era Dios.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

Por medio de l todas las cosas fueron creadas; sin l, nada de lo creado lleg a existir.

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

En l estaba la vida, y la vida era la luz de la humanidad.

In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

Esta luz resplandece en las tinieblas, y las tinieblas no han podido extinguirla.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Vino un hombre llamado Juan. Dios lo envi como testigo para dar testimonio de la luz, a fin de que por medio de l todos creyeran. Juan no era la luz, sino que vino para dar testimonio de la luz.
There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

Esa luz verdadera, la que alumbra a todo ser humano, vena a este mundo.

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.

El que era la luz ya estaba en el mundo, y el mundo fue creado por medio de l, pero el mundo no lo reconoci.

He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

Vino a lo que era suyo, pero los suyos no lo recibieron.

He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.

Mas a cuantos lo recibieron, a los que creen en su nombre, les dio el derecho de ser hijos de Dios. stos no nacen de la sangre, ni por deseos naturales, ni por voluntad humana, sino que nacen de Dios.

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision, but born of God.

Aquel que es la Palabra habit entre nosotros y fue como uno de nosotros. Vimos el poder que le pertenece como Hijo nico de Dios, pues nos ha mostrado todo el amor y toda la verdad.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
