    Arthritis can affect people of all ages in many forms. Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common type, affecting almost 30 million Americans. It is a degenerative joint disease where cartilage breaks down over time, causing pain and stiffness. Symptoms include joint pain worsened with activity and relieved by rest, tenderness, stiffness in the morning or after inactivity, limited range of motion, grating sounds or sensations in the joint, and bone spurs forming around affected joints. OA is usually treated with medications, physical therapy, exercise, and joint replacement surgery for severe cases.
