Preservation Services - Field Representative

The Columbus Landmarks Foundation in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a qualified


person on a part time basis for a new position as Field Representative in
Preservation Services. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and
qualifications.

Position Objective:

Represent Columbus Landmarks Foundation and the National Trust for Historic
Preservation in providing service driven support to local organizations, communities and
individuals, involved in the ownership, maintenance, repair, rehabilitation or restoration of
historic resources and in marketing this new technical preservation services program in
the Columbus metropolitan area.

Duties:

1. Represent and promote Columbus Landmarks Foundation and the National


Trust for Historic Preservation and their respective programs to communities
and neighborhoods in the Columbus metropolitan area and provide mission-driven
services in and out of the field.

2. Provide hands-on guidance about fundamentals of historic preservation


rehabilitation techniques and approaches, all in compliance with the Secretary of
the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.

3. Develop and provide access to network of specialized rehabilitation


practitioners.
4. Promote issues related to historic preservation including economic development,
community and neighborhood revitalization, sustainability and adaptive use.

5. Serve as a liaison for historic preservation resources at the local, regional, state
and national level.

6. Develop a network of preservation stakeholders and providers throughout the area


who are willing and able to assist one another with preservation knowledge and
experience.

7. Work actively to build constituent and financial support for the Columbus
Landmarks Foundation and its Preservation Services, and nurture community
relations.

8. Maintain thorough written records of inquiries, contacts made, services provided,


and member and donor prospects solicited. Also provide photographic
documentation of activities.

9. Assist with program development, updates and evaluation and provide regular
reports to the Executive Director and Board for use in communications and program
and policy development and compliance with agreements with the National Trust for
Historic Preservation and other funding sources.

10.Work actively to collaborate with other preservation stakeholders to leverage


activities and visibility.

Candidate Qualifications:

1. Demonstrates excellent leadership, organizational, written and verbal


communications skills, and the ability to develop and foster strong working
relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

2. Has experience in reading construction documents and drawings, building


rehabilitation, construction management, historic preservation, architecture, urban
& regional planning, community development, historic real estate, government
relations, neighborhood revitalization, or other related field.
3. Is familiar with Columbus Landmarks Foundation, the National Trust for Historic
Preservation, and has experience working with the Secretary of the Interior’s
Standards for Rehabilitation and general historic preservation practices and
procedures.

4. Familiarity with Columbus neighborhoods and Columbus metropolitan area is


desired.

5. Demonstrates the ability to work independently and prioritize a large number of


tasks and responsibilities.

6. Has proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, a valid driver’s license, and willingness
to travel extensively in the Columbus metropolitan area and occasionally outside
the city.

7. Having an undergraduate degree in historic preservation, architecture, engineering


or related field is desirable. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
