The high-performance superplasticizer Melux

2651 F and viscosity modifying agent

(stabilizer) Starvis

3003 F are synthetic chemical additives which were developed as a

substitute for casein in cementitious self-levelling underlayments (SLUs).
General
Self-levelling underlayments (SLUs) are fast set-
ting, multi-binder based construction materials
that are commercialized as dry mortars.
Melux

2651 F in combination with viscosity

modifying agent Starvis

3003 F enable the for-

mulator to replace casein by synthetic additives
for developing high quality SLUs.

During mixing (EN 1937) every 15sec a sample
is taken and the ow is measured. Casein based
formulations need approx. 3 times (90sec)
longer mixing time than formulations based on
Melux

3003 F (30sec).
The short mixing time makes them especially
suitable for machine applied SLUs.

Flow properties depend on early stiffening
of the binder. The thixotropic effects of
the stabilisers are reduced to an absolute
minimum.
Even at lower dosage rate of Melux

2651F
[0.25 %, btw] ow properties are superior
to regular casein [0.40 % btw] based
formulations.

3.2.5 Self Healing Properties
Self healing is investigated with a knife-cut test.
The hardened surface can be assessed by a seven-step evaluation scale.
Example:
evaluation of knife cut test:
1 cut heals completely, invisible
2 cut heals, but visible
3 cut heals, but visible edges
4 cut heals, but well visible edges
5 cut heals, but visible scar
6 cut heals, but well visible scar
7 cut does not heal

Retarding effects of casein and conventional stabilizer are eliminated by using Melux

2651 F
and Starvis

3003 F. This accelerates cement hydration during the hardening process resulting
in improved surface properties.

3.3.2 Flexural Strength
Flexural Strength of Mortar Prisms (4cm x 4cm x 16cm)
Using Melux

2651 F and Starvis

3003 F
provides improved early strength (after 4h)
compared to casein and cellulose ether.
Thus, required time for foot trafc hardness
and oor covering installation is substantially
shortened.

4.1 Storage Instructions
Due to the special polymer properties Melux

powder products have a thermal sensitivity which
may lead to lump formation in case of excessive
heat, humidity and pressure.
Melux

1641 F, 2641 F and 2651 F should be

stored at ambient temperatures below 40 C
(104 F), dry and cool in its unopened original
packaging at relative humidity below 60 %.
Close and reseal opened packages properly. In
any case, please do not double stack the pallets
(reduction of weight exposure).
The shelf life of Melux

1641 F, 2641 F and

2651 F is up to 1 year when stored in the
conditions stated above.
Starvis

3003 F should be protected from

excessive heat and stored in unopened original
packaging. Shelf life for this product is 2 years.

relevant national laws and regulations
concerning safety, environmental protection,
storage and transport.
Beside this we kindly ask to follow the
corresponding advice in technical and
material safety data sheets.
Additional information will gladly be
provided on request.
