Program description

These programs offer a rebate for installing advanced evaporative cooling
equipment to residential and business customers. Homebuilders who install
this equipment on new homes also qualify for the residential rebate.
There are four types of qualifying equipment that are eligible for a rebate
under this program:
1 A combination unit that contains both the indirect and direct stages
in one cooler. Example: OASys.
2 A 100% indirect evaporative cooler that cools the air without adding
any humidity. Example: Coolerado.
To get a rebate
A Purchase and install a qualifying product(s). In general, these
products are only available through HVAC contractors or equipment
distributors. PNM recommends having advanced evaporative
equipment installed by a qualified contractor. All items must be
purchased and installed between October 1, 2007 and
December 31, 2009. All equipment installed must be new. Used
or rebuilt equipment is not eligible for rebate.
B Submit a completed rebate form, a copy of your PNM electric bill,
proof of purchase (such as a receipt) and an itemized contractor invoice
(if the item was installed by a contractor) to:

Qualifying Equipment Other information

1 Indirect/Direct combination cooling unit · PNM will issue rebate checks, not utility bill credits.
· Equipment must meet the technical requirements listed in this application form. PNM
Brand Model Rebate Amount reserves the right to withhold payment for products that do not meet the requirements.
OASys Commercial 2.5 to 3 ton unit $ 500 · Please keep a copy of any receipts, invoices, and the completed rebate form for
your records.
OASys Residential 2.5 to 3 ton unit $ 400 · You will receive your rebates in 6-8 weeks. For questions regarding the status of your
rebate application, please call the PNM rebate processor, EFI, at 1- 866-807-1543.
2 100% Indirect cooling unit Applications are subject to verification. Incomplete information may delay or disqualify
your rebate.

Q. What is Advanced Evaporative Cooling?
A. Advanced Evaporative Cooling refers to various technologies that cool
the air that are far more effective than aspen-pad swamp coolers.
PNM is offering rebates on both free-standing Advanced Evaporative
Cooling units when purchased with an ICM, and on Indirect Cooling
Modules that are attached to an existing single-inlet evaporative
cooler. Indirect cooling still uses evaporative technology, but it does
it without adding any additional humidity. Some technologies use
indirect cooling as a pre-cooler to a single-inlet evaporative cooler,
while one technology adds no humidity to the conditioned air.
Q. Are people using indirect evaporative cooling units in the
Albuquerque area now?
A. Yes. A few residential customers and some business customers have
been using indirect evaporative cooling units for some time.
Q. Where can I get an indirect cooling unit?
A. PNM maintains a list of heating, ventilation and air conditioning
contractors and equipment wholesalers who install indirect evaporative
cooling equipment. Please visit our website at PNM.com/rebates.

Q. What types of equipment are there?
A. There are two technologies available:
· Combination unit that contains both the indirect and direct stages
in one cooler.
Example: OASys residential unit
· A 100 percent indirect evaporative cooler.
Example: Coolerado R600 Residential
Q. Have you received any feedback from customers who have
installed these units so far?
A. The feedback we have received so far is that customers who installed
these advanced evaporative units instead of refrigerated air units are
happy with their purchase. For more information, please contact PNM.

Q. Why is PNM offering rebates for indirect cooling equipment?

A. Indirect cooling equipment offers comparable cooling capacity – and

therefore, a similar comfort level – to a traditional refrigerated air
conditioning unit, while using much less energy to run.
